Keane has just turned 28 on 5th July!
Some may still say its old but he has experience and will be an instant success. As a boyhood LFC fan he will be delighted to play for us and will always give 100%

Just imagine feeling you are going to play out your career at Spurs and the team you have supported from no age come looking your signature at 28 years of age!
He will give everything for LFC and may even become a better player than he already is.

TWO LFC fans upfront Keane and Torres with his armband!
Class!! :buttrock

Take into consideration the 12 months it would take Villa to aclimatize to the EPL and you have effectively cancelled out any age difference (as Keane will hit the ground running).

Also ... it looks like it's going to take around £30m to get Villa ... more than "a few extra million"

Great signing in Keane. If Xabi is to be offloaded to Fenerbache then I see us getting the Barry deal finalised this week. That leaves us waiting to offload Pennant, Voronin to raise some pennies for a winger.

Only worrying things is Arbeloa going. That might see Rafa's focus have to change a little!!

And some may say we've got him in his prime.

I am glad to see a player like Keane join us, hes just that little bit different to what we've got and IMO is a very creative player who will chip in with goals.

Exactly what we need up top.

RAFA BENITEZ hopes to hand Robbie Keane his Liverpool debut at Rangers next Saturday.

The striker’s dream transfer moved a step closer on Thursday night when he was left out of the Tottenham side for the friendly in Alicante.

Keane is expected to complete a £20million switch to Merseyside early next week.

It seems unlikely the deal will be done in time for him to line up in the Reds’ next warm-up fixture at Villarreal on Wednesday.

The trip to Scotland to play against Rangers at Ibrox three days later is the more likely option, assuming there are no problems with his medical.

Liverpool chief Benitez is refusing to panic in his efforts to land Gareth Barry despite Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill’s attempts to place a deadline on the transfer.

Benitez has refused to budge from his stance that Barry is overpriced at £18m while a growing cash crisis at Valencia is raising the possibility of the Kop manager moving for David Silva instead.

Valencia have debts of £400m and the Spaniards are looking to fund a new £250m stadium.

And owner Juan Solares is desperately trying to sell the club.

But until he does, the need to raise cash has become desperate and some of Europe’s big guns are circling Silva, David Villa and Joaquin.

Solares was furious with figurehead president Juan Villalonga for rejecting Atletico Madrid’s £17m bid for Silva — an obvious sign he was ready to do business at that price.

The figure is lower than Benitez and Co expected them to demand and, with no immediate end in sight to the war which is tearing Valencia apart, Liverpool could get the Spain winger for a cut price.

Villa is Valencia’s jewel in the crown and Real Madrid will swoop if they are forced to concede defeat in their bid to sign Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Liverpool’s Spanish stars Fernando Torres, Pepe Reina, Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa returned to training yesterday following their Euro 2008 heroics.

Benitez believes their success can inspire everyone at Anfield.

He said: “They return with confidence and that is a good thing because players who win trophies have a winning mentality, and that can rub off on other players around them.”

LES FERDINAND fears Tottenham will be left firing blanks by flogging Manchester United target Dimitar Berbatov and Keane.

Ex-Spurs striker Ferdinand said: “All we hear about is the big players like the Berbatovs and Keanes leaving and we’re not hearing about replacements.

“I don’t think they can afford to sell both of them. If you lose those two players you are losing 40-odd goals a season. How do you replace that?”

and now there seems to be some momentum gathering behind a 'david villa to spurs' rumour. valencia need to sell, villa has said he likes spurs, spurs will have a wad of cash when we buy keane.

i like keane a lot but i'll be gutted if our signing him allows someone else to get villa.

Torres didn't require 12 months to acclimatise.

There's nothing to suggest Villa would need 12 months before he gets going, he's in the same bracket as Torres in terms of quality.

Keane may need a little acclimatisation, as playing for Spurs and playing for us are two very different proposals. More pressure and more park the bus teams.

If you mean major LFC websites , various sources on them sites are posting that the deal is done , medical on monday , our player by tuesday . So if you choose to believe these sources ( which i do ) then so as long as he passes the medical ,he's our man.
