Yeppp, we should invest on right sided players. Anybody here fancy Joaquin?

Definetly and i think we could get him for 8 mil now . What about that kid from Valencia , Juan Matta ? Is he any good ?

About that Mata guy, i think u should ask Sabre.... He's like the Guillem balague of this forum..  :D

Juan Mata is already a very good player and he has a lot of promise as well. He is probably one the people that is least likely to leave Valencia because he doesn't cost that much to them in terms of wages, yet still brings the team a lot of quality.

Micah at RB would be pretty good and with Liverpool's coaching staff he could become great.

not sure where you are getting this 5 English players idea.  The rule only applied to the Champions League, and it states that of your registered squad of 25 players, at least 8 have to have been trained in England for three years before they turned 21 AND of those 8, at least 4 have to have been trained at Liverpool for 3 years before they were 21.  If you do not have enough players, you simply just cannot register the full 25 people for the Champions League squad.  Further, you can register an unlimited amount of U21 players that have been at the club for at least 2 years.

We can register 17 international players, plus Gerrard, Carragher, Insua, San Jose, Pacheco, Spearing, Darby, Martin Kelly, and Nemeth.  I don't think it is wise to buy English players just for the sake of buying English players, especially as they are usually more expensive.

I was talking about the 6+5 rule where we must actually have 6 players which are eligible for the national team of the league they play in and then you can have 5 foreign players.

If it goes through then need Barry and atleast 1 other decent player like Lennon.

That rule is not going to be passed   And even if it was passed, it wouldn't take effect for a while and would take effect in stages just like the UEFA rule and it would be likely that by the time the rule meant anything to Liverpool, Gareth Barry would be well passed his prime.

Funny the same lennon who has troubled evra whenver he has been up against him . Lennon's crossing has improved quite a fair bit this season and would deffo be good enough to play for us . Johnsen is a step up over arbeloa

Kuyt has a much better end product than Lennon, whether Lennon had a good game against Evra or not doesn't really cut it for me as a reason to buy him.

Johnson simply can't defend.  Arbeloa can.  So I don't really see the step up you're on about.  He couldn't produce for Chelsea when the pressure was on and I doubt he'd do so for us.  He's found his level at Portsmouth imo.

Apart from not rating either of them, I'll add that their respective clubs rate them a great deal.  In fact they rate them far, far more than they're worth.  You're talking probably 10 mil for Johnson and 15 mil for Lennon, which is crazy money for players who simply won't cut it here.  Two prime examples of players who have achieved nothing to date in the game but have been bummed up by the media to the point where people actually rate them :no

And why are they bummed up??  Young.  English.  Players.

Los Che Star Still No1 Liverpool Target?

Spanish International David Silva at Valencia is still the top transfer target for Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez, with a summer bid by the Merseyside club being mooted for the Los Che star, according to The Times.

Several players are expected to leave the Mestalla in the summer, with the La Liga club reportedly massively in debt and need to sacrifice some of their key players in order to balance the books at Valencia.

23-year-old Silva is bound to be amongst them, with Benitez’s interest in the winger well documented. It had been reported that Liverpool already had a deal in place for Silva to join the Premiership side in the summer for £25million, but this was called off due to details being leaked to the press. Causing Benitez to claim that Silva was not a target for Liverpool.

Now it is reported that Benitez still has Silva, who has scored 22 goals in 116 appearances since coming through the youth system at Los Che, high on his radar. It suggested that Liverpool, will make a move in the summer and that Benitez will land the EURO 2008 winner.

Valencia value Silva, who is under contract at the Mestalla until 2013 in excess of £20million, but Liverpool are understood to be unwilling to pay this asking price. The Premier League club more than aware of the Spanish clubs financial plight and ready to take advantage of the need to sell.

Silva had been the subject of a bid by Serie A giants Juventus in January, but with La Vecchia Signora about to tie up a deal for Brazilian playmaker Diego. Liverpool are the front-runners for the signature of the Spaniard.

Anyway apparntly we are about to sign that Jakub Błaszczykowski. I can't read the link as its blocked at work.
