Liverpool on verge of singing Daniel Pranjic

Liverpool are set to land Croatian international Daniel Pranjic from Herenveen in an £8million deal.

The 26-year-old left-sided midfielder, who scored 16 goals in the Dutch League this season to help Herenveen qualify for Europe, sent agent Soren Lerby to Anfield this week to discuss terms.

Lerby then flew to Holland on Friday to speak with Heerenveen and club director Yme Kuiper admitted: "We understand Liverpool is the club where Pranjic wants to go."

He will become boss Rafa Benitez's first summer signing - and be joined by Gareth Barry, who is refusing to sign a new contract.

Aston Villa captain Barry was priced out of a move last year when the Midlands club demanded £18m. However, with Xabi Alonso going to Juventus for £15m, around £10m will be freed up to land Barry.

Whos this Pranjic then? anyone seen him play?
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Well laddies with the season entering its final month we can expect a massive migration of b*llshit from the other forum sections into the Transfer Rumours thread.

Happy days are coming  =>  'Reds sign Silva, Kaka and Tevez at knockdown prices on same day....',   'Babel sold for 40 million....'

Messi: 'Liverpool was always my childhood dream club...., Rafa my dream manager and Torres my first sh@g.'

The Daily is linking us with a 12mil move for Downing. Id say yes to that. He was quite good against Newcastle and i remember when Alves had the ball upfront Downing sprant past him at about 100mph to offer him an option. He would be great for us. He's alot better than people think and playing in our team he would blossom and lets face it if we make the offer he'l come here 1 billion% now that the Brough are going down. Him, Barry and another striker would be pretty good.

when middlesbourgh go down would we really have to pay £12 mill for downing?? would have thought we could get him a little cheaper than that maybe up to £10 imll might be worth a punt?

i think he is an ok player not great but i think he could do a good job for us, his is not the star player we are all looking for but better than what we have so would be an improvment

so what we have to ask is do we want a little better than what we have or do we splash out more cash and get another step up from him?

i think it all goes down to what cash we really have to spend and what players rafa thinks we need

Liverpool boss Benitez lines up £12m bid for Middlesbrough winger Downing

Stewart Downing has emerged as the preferred choice to solve Rafa Benitez’s need for more width and will be the subject of a £12m bid by Liverpool at the end of the season.

Tottenham’s Aaron Lennon was also in the frame, but Benitez has switched focus to the left flank and Middlesbrough winger Downing, after being impressed by Dirk Kuyt’s impact on the right this season.

Benitez said: ‘Someone called him Mr Duracell, and that is a good description for him, because he is like the bunny in the advert. He is always on the go, always running.’ ... so that's why he likes him so much... another grafter!!

we have a grafter on the wing now ( right wing all be it )

we need grafters but we also need an end product if rafa likes him so much and we do get him then i just hope to god he can step up to the mark and provide an end product for us, but i think he will need to up his game a lot to make an impact

Between now and the start of the season, we'll be linked with every two bit player on the continent...For that reason, I am no longer going to read this thread.
I will instead look to LFC.TV for "facts" !
