despite this, i STILL think we're :censored: at right back, dubious at left back, very, very poor on the right of midfield, have a dilemna of robbie keane, whose signing creates more questions than answers, and wasted the best part of 3 months trying to sign gareth barry, leaving us with a disgruntled and out of form alonso.

Step up Ryan Babel.

He is a great prospect although some of you think otherwise and i firmly belive he can become one of the best wingers in the league. Put him on the right of midfield and let him torment left backs. After all, we've got nobody else so give the lad a chance while he's still young. I would rather see him playing just behind Torres but that's a whole topic in itself.

1- Nasri- 12 mil
2- VDV- 8 mil
3- SWP- 8 mil

Bentley/Quaresma
Whilest Ngog looks not bad, I don't know F all about Flora, Riera is no VDV or SWP and he cost the same as them did he not?
Keane will come good but considering he cost 8 mil more then Nasri, I know who will be around for longer and Nasri has looked the goods straight up even though he wasnt EPL proven, and Keano, whos a EPL veteran has failed to impress so far..

Pretty disappointing transfer considering theres been some quality players move clubs but hey Rafa knows best apparently..

Quaresma (£9m) and SWP (£9m).  Instead of Keane

Kept Crouch (£+11m) who would enjoy having two wingers rather than two forwards out wide.

Owen (£5m at most).

Voronin out.

These could all have been done with the money spent.....then

Micah Richards (£20m) if the money was available of course

It remains to be seen whether this was actually a bad transfer window...

However, I would've liked to have seen the likes S@int mentioned - Van der Vaart, Wright-Phillips, Owen even.

I'm not sure how feasible they would've been though.

We would've been competing with Real Madrid for VDV, and with Man City for SWP. They both have more flexible wage budgets compared to us, as well as having more flexible transfer budgets.

I also reckon it's open to debate whether Chelsea would have demanded more from us, or whether they would've refused to negotiate, and whether SWP would've preferred to have joined us anyway! The same applies to VDV.

I'd have taken Owen any day for £3m or there abouts.

Plus a "B" accounting that allows players to avoid taxes with "B" salaries. It's difficult to compete with them with their dirty tricks.

I agree that it remains to be seen how good it has been. And it will be crucial for the future of Rafa. I think that the "final straw" for many, the bit that has triggered a lot of annoyment is that there's somehow a feeling that the transfer windows has been dissapointing. Some seem to blame the yanks, but there are not few fans who think we could do better with the same money. But evaluations should be left for the end of the season.

Keane is ok. His worth will be proved now that Torres is injured. Though I think Crouch would have been just as useful in these times of injury.

Quaresma, Silva, Lahm and Daniel Alves. Many worry about Quaresma's discipline and dedication but I have full confidence in Rafa squeezing the best out of him and taming him.

Ricardo Quaresma went to Inter for 15m PLUS Pele, who was valued at 4m with 4m of potential add ons

Thats a total cost of 23m

My mistake then......supposedly we had £18m knocking about to buy Barry...so perhaps we could have spent that on Quaresma instead

^ We did want Quaresma and we made contact with him, but he did not want to come here because he didn't like the role that Rafa was going to give him.
