Defoe and Crouch and then Gonzalez and Kewell or another winger would be brilliant.About 8 million would be reasonablr for Defoe who is a decent player.I hope he does sign for us soon

john craig wrote:Don't fancy either Bent or Defoe to be honest.  Bent could well be another Marcus Stewart or James Beattie - one great season but will struggle to reproduce it.  For 3 million you'd maybe gamble on him, but Charlton will want 4 times that which I'd never consider paying for him.  Defoe has been in the premiership longer and would represent less of a gamble.  Good finisher and quick, but I'd still not pay over 7-8 million for him.

But the bottom line as far as I'm concerned is that neither player is a good enough all-round footballer.  Neither links play well or will contribute much to the team when they don't score.  People will say that maybe that's just what we need.  Bollox.  The best of strikers can score the goals and contribute to the team.  Maybe Benitez and his staff could work with one of these guys and develop other aspects of their play, but either way they'd still be a gamble.

I think I'm inclined to agree with that.

IMO any striker is a gamble. If a Player was great on one team doesn't mean he will be as good in another. Cisse and Morientes are examples of this. Cisse was top scorer in France while we all know about the reputation Morientes had. Of the two before mentioned (Bent and Defoe) I would probably choose Defoe. Of all the strikers mentioned in the Forum I think the best choice would probably be Saviola (speaking about price and ability). He was Fantastic in River Plate, great player for the argentinian national team and IMO he has not been given a fair chance in Spain. He is class and could turn to be a bargain. Then again as I mentioned before, every player is a gamble so fingers crossed Rafa finds the right player :D .

We were interested in him last season, when he played against us last year he wasn't very good and missed a sitter (if I remember correctly), sounds like another Sergei Rebrov to me  :;):

Oh yeah. Was that him!? Spurs are building on their success then!  :D

Of course, you know they found out what gave them all food poisoning, don't you? They analysed the food. Apparently all the fuss was caused by hard cheese, sour grapes and tough sh!t!  :D

He may have missed a sitter but he also gave our defence the complete runaround that day.  I have seen this guy a fair few times and Spurs have got themselves a good player there.

£11m!?! Surely they'll have to make a bit of cash from somewhere and Defoe is an asset that they're not using much which makes him the obvious offload. Good.

apparently they used the bulk of some sponsorship deal with Mansion? to fund it.

But they seem to have spent alot of money in general considering there Spurs you'd think they'd sit on it  :D
