Rafa has come out and more or less "guaranteed" we will finish top four. This may indicate he is going to put out a second string, or face the possibility we mirror our 04/05 season where we also started with 24 points from 16 games and missed out on 4th because we were on a CL run

Mate, I would think even a LFC second string would have a better chance of progressing in the Europa League than the first team managed in the Champions League. I don't think they could conceivably be any worse....

When I was young (late 60's) Liverpool and Liverpool reserves used to play a match every season, and the reserves always won! The only time I can remember the first team winning was in the early 70's when Keegan first came.
