We have no first team squad and we have no depth.
Our League campaign is laughable, our european is well a tough one. I hate our owners but when all said and done we sold a perfectly decent right back and signed another who is decent for way over the odds. The other new guy we signed, i dont no if he will be good bad or in indifferent. Irrelelvant, Fact is we bort a guy for alot of money who a fair way into the season has not played a game. I don't care how good he is, when he does get to start we are playing catchup, a game we will struggle to win at. We keep playing the only brazilian with no tallent. We have one striker. We new all this at the start of the season and prayed we had no injurys, well we do and we are FU**ED. Babelvoronin
ngog young not good enough. I'm mad very mad and RB is to blame.
GET rid
Regardless of anyone's opinion on Rafa (and some lost the faith in him long before last season) sacking him (or any manager in my book, unless the dressing rooom has been lost) at this stage of the season would be completely knee-jerk and likely to be counter productive for a number fo reasons.
1- There is enough turmoil behind the scenes with the owners without worrying about a change of manager so early in the year.
2- Some of our top players (Torres and Reina spring to mind) have allegiences to the manager. If he went, and things didn't improve I wonder if they'd be so certain of their futures at the club come January when the big offers come in again.
3- Would the owners see a green light to sell Torres for BIG money in January if Rafa was not at the club or we were in a caretaker manager situation? In my opinion, YES they would.
4- Who would we get in at such short notice? Chance sof getting a top name such as Hiddink or Mourinho are virually zero in mid-season.
5- That leaves us with Sammy Lee. Great servant to the club and a passionate number 2, but no thanks.
In my opinion it simply isn't realistic to even think about it at this stage of the season, no matter how pis...s...ed off you might be with our play, the personnel or anything tactical.
Good post but I do unsurprisingly disagree becuase I actually think he has lost the dressing room already, the team have not been the same since alonso left, i think there was a hell of a lot more going on behind the scenes with Alonso than any of us realise.
If Rafa leaves then things will get worse before they get better but that's not big problem as far as I'm concerned as it needs to happen at some point and mid season is probably the best time. As for a mass exodus of players, firstly I don't think it will happen but if they are that disployal to the club and fans then they can feck off for all I care. If the owners want to sell Torres in January can you explain how Rafa will stop them becuase unless he owns 51% of the shares I don't see how he could.

He's been given a pittance to spend this summer to replace last year's player of the year, as well as the greatest centre half we've had in the Premiership era and one of the most reliable right backs in the country. He sold Alonso for 30 million, since then has spent around 20 on it to try and replace him, wheres the other 10 million gone? That's not including the money he got for selling Arby, Leto, Hobbs, Anderson and Hammill. He's had to sell and even then still isn't given that money to buy back.
He's had a squad that's full of injuries, thanks to our overly kind international schedule. There's not a great deal he can do about that, no matter how much people wanna blame Rafa for it.
His options are limited and he can't just pluck another top quality player out of thin air, quality costs and with those f*****g robbing b******s in charge of the club, Rafa isn't gonna be given the money to buy top quality. He's always gonna be having to settle for second or third best in terms of quality. It's testament to how good a manger he is when you see what he's achieved under such disturbing circumstances.
I'm not talking about the trophies he's won because they were won under the Moores' regime.
I'm talking about taking us to our highest points tally in our history. Yes our f*****g history. The history that has won us 18 League titles, none of those title winning sides won as many points as Rafa Benitez' Liverpool side did last year. I'm talking about constantly fighting the owners for the good of the club, Rafa is the one who wants good for the club and Rafa is good for the club. I'm talking about us t******g United in their own back f*****g yard. In case you missed that game it ended 4-1. Rafa outclassed Ferguson in every department. He outclassed money bags Hughes last year 3-2. He outclassed money bags Scolari. He's outclassed every so called top manager.
And it was this squad (pretty much) and these tactics that set us so well last year. Difference being? That's right dimwits, the players are the ones not performing and without decent f*****g owners giving Rafa the funds he needs, he's not gonna be able to bring in a better class of player. His hands are tied.
But yeah lets sack him and bring in a yes man for those two con artist c***s who claim to be owning the club. You'll only ever own this club by name you pair of t***s, but in spirit the club will always belong to the fans. But they'll bring in a yes man who they can control, Rafa is anything but that and is always fighting our corner for us.
If you want him sacked then you've a f*****g lot to learn about football in general and even more so Liverpool Football Club. Top clubs, and this one especially, don't sack their managers because of a few bad results. Top clubs, and especially this one, are proud to have managers of the caliber of Rafa Benitez and should do everything in their power to keep him as boss.
There's very few top class managers with Rafa's record, dignity, pride, loyalty and class but what the heck, lets just f*****g sack him and bring in Mark McGhee.
didnt even want to post comment until i read your post mate, totally agree with everything you have said here lad! i will be at arsenal on wednesday, fulham on saturday and in lyon and you know why because i LOVE THIS CLUB!!!!!
Well give it your all mate, let the players and Rafa know they haven't lost the fans.
Sing your heart out like our away fans always do. Rally the boys on to glory. Make them feel 10 foot tall, make them swell with pride when they see what support they have even after a run like we're currently on. Make it known to those southern-loving press boys that Liverpool Football Club is still, and always will be, followed by the greatest supporters in the world.
In times of trouble, we sing even louder. Never in my lifetime, and I'm sure in yours, will we turn against our boys and our manager.
This isn't just a football club for some of us. It's our life. Our soul. Our heart. And because of that the men and women all over the world who love this club with the passion you and I do will never turn on our club.
Waldo wrote:I think the notion of sacking Rafa is a ridiculous one for many reasons. The main ones being the fact it would cost the club £20m to sack him, what top managers would want to come in given the state of the club off the field and, most importantly, I think it would mean the likes of Torres and Reina would walk. Rafa signed a new deal in the summer and was closely followed by Gerrard and Torres. If he goes then I think they will seriously consider their positions at Liverpool. Another new man another new start...for Gerrard that would mean even less chance of winning the league title with Liverpool.
That being said I can absolutely see the point of many on here and the frustrations they feel about Rafa.
Without sounding like a broken record you cannot underestimate the loss of Alonso. He has left a massive void in our team and Rafa must take the blame for him leaving in the summer.
The jury has to be out with regards the summer signing and I think I could have done better if I had £39m in the summer. Johnson is a very good player but £18m for a RB!!! Aquilani...well who knows but apparently a 15 min appearance for the reserves last night has given many hope that he is better than what we have in MF at the moment, although that's hardly surprising given it's Lucas (who is hopeless) and Mascherano (who doesn't look like he wants to play for us anymore) as the incumbent shirt fillers in MF.
Having watched a lot of Liverpool over the past few weeks you look at the likes of Lorik Cana and Lee Cattermole (as well as Michael Turner) at Sunderland and think they would do a v.good for us (esp Cana who I rate highly). Then Krankjar goes to Spurs for < £3mI think we missed out on all of these guys.
You then look at who we were linked with...Negredo, Barry, Poulson, Deffour etc etc and I think £39m could have secure 2 or 3 of these players.
Our "squad" hasn't improved on last year and that coupled with the injuries is why we are where we are at the moment. Rafa has to take the blame for that.

Peter Reid for Liverpool manager![]()
F***s sake, maybe we could try Dan Petruscu or Adrian Heath while we're at it. Sod it, try Adrian Chiles.
Liverpool don't play attacking football?Another classic. Didn't Rafa Benitez' Liverpool side score four against United last year? Didn't Rafa Benitez' Liverpool side score four against Arsenal last year? Didn't Rafa Benitez' Liverpool side score four against Chelsea last year? So we put four past the rest of the big four, oh how defensive we must be. Didn't Rafa Benitez' Liverpool side score more league goals than any other side in the league last year? Oh how defensive we must be. Haven't we scored four goals in three matches already this year, oh how defensive we must be. Didn't Fernando Torres score more goals than any other foreigner in their debut season back in 07/08 - how did he manage that with such a defensive manager setting defensive tactics? I suppose 33 goals were just luck.
Arbeloa didn't want to leave? Erm yes he did which is why he refused to sign a contract extension. And we didn't sell him to buy Glen Johnson as the former Portsmouth man arrived before we'd sold anybody this summer. Alonso only wanted to leave because of Rafa? Erm no he didn't, he wanted to leave because Real Madrid came in for him which is why his transfer request came in after Madrid made their interests known.
So if you're gonna continuously slag the manager off and making suggestions as to why he should be sacked, at least make them credible. If not, then belt up complaining and get behind the manager.
So Alonso,Crouch,Sissoko,Bellamy and Hypypia going and Babel,Lucas,Veronin and Ngog arriving had fk all to do with Rafa you'll be trying to tell me next.
I don't need you to tell me to get behind Rafa and the team I have supported for over 40 years. In the past, admittedly not recently, I have been a strong supporter of Rafa but things change and he's changed. Enough is enough and it is time for a complete overhaul! Manager, team and owners. We are currently rapidly going backwards and I am find it really difficult to keep the faith!

I'll take Alonso, Crouch and Bellamy from the first list but forget the others, Baros cant hold down a place, Finnan is finished, Murphy and Riise way too old. At their prime mate yes, but not mid october 2009.
As you state, the second list would struggle against most EPL sies.
I'd take more than those three, mate, but even with just those three still in the side we'd be an entirely different proposition, IMO. I simply can't make out how we've shipped out so many decent players and replaced them with some of our current squad members. It's verging on criminal.
(BTW, I cannot begin to tell you how disturbing it is getting the old![]()

)
And to think it was you Bob that couldn't be bothered explaining Rafa's strengths a few weeks ago when I suggested that a little more enthusiasm when we scored a goal would help. You muttered something about me being fed up with his poker face suggesting that I wasn't giving him enough credit. And now you can't understand how we have managed to sell diamonds and replace them with bricks. Shall we just say it was all Parry's fault. lol

Even if we lose to the skanks its not the end of the world no matter what the media says.
I still believe we will come second and qualify for the knockout stages of the CL.
Have faith and get behind the team
