Benayoun is just a pleasure to watch at the moment. His form is exceptional. Unless you actually go to the game I think it's quite easy to underestimate just how good his movement is.

Yup, his dribbling skills are world class.

He has really improved a lot since he joined us

So looks like Riera will be fit and available for selection against Villa. Be interesting to see who gets the nod.

I think we could see stevie dropping back to midfield to accommodate both if thats the case , last night he was playing very deep a couple of times.

was exceptional again. i honestly don't see how we can leave him out at the moment, especially in home games against stubborn defences. he's one of the few players we have in the side who can take players on and make something happen. i love watching him play.

Personally I think Benny is better as an impact sub, a la Fairclough of old....
Remember, for many of the games last season he was largely ineffective, though he did have a couple of really good ones too.
Can't help wondering what is going on with Rieira though. It's almost as if he's pining for a move back to Spain, maybe as a result of Xabi feckin' off he's decided "That's for me..." But his form has dipped dramatically from the absolute highs when he came first....Man, those first couple of games he played he was outstanding..

A couple of really good games? He was arguably our best player for the last 15 games of the season? Ok he was ineffective in the first half of the season but after christmas he was on fire. Surely you pick player who are in form, in which case Benayoun is nailed on to start at the moment?

He's one of those players who can be frustrating a la Luis Garcia, but has the ability to create or open up defences and score (important) goals. Personally I'd like to see him used as a (second) striker more than he is, if he has to be sub or if Torres is injured by way of an alternative.

I think Riera started well but hasn't the same output or impact that Yossi has. Shame because that means practically every million spent of the near £40m last season was wasted. (nice one Rafa!) Maybe we should consider big bids for Riera from abroad, good player that he is I think he's now second choice LM/LWF and we might get double what we paid for him to spend elsewhere.
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

The rumours of Riera's demise are greatly (and predictably) exaggerated.  He still provides width, is positive, has good skill on the ball, pops up with goals and gives the team balance.  He's behind Yossi at the moment on form but that doesn't mean he's useless and that we should get shut.  He'll play a vital role again for us this season just as he did last season (particularly first half).  Besides, the biggest threat to our title challenge this year is having a squad that is too threadbare in several different areas.  The last thing we should consider doing is shipping out the only natural left winger we have.

It's never a problem having two good players on the same role in a big team like us. I don't have any problem with shipping Babel out though..

How did Riera cost us?

Out of the three players we have for the left side, ironically the cheapest one is our best. Benayoun we got for just £5 Million !!

I would value him at around £20 million right now  :)

I'd bring Riera back into the team at Bolton. We need width as the lack of it last night was criminal.
