Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I've been pretty clear on what I think of this transfer, but now that he's signed I hope he proves me wrong and that playing in a well organised unit like our back four will improve the defensive side of his game and make him an even better player.  Fingers crossed we will not be regretting this in January.

Don't see how he is worth £18m, if we paid that, but happy to be signing a player wanted by other top 4 sides.

He will improve the squad, and give us more attacking flare down the right.

One or two more quality signings this summer and we can go one better next season :)

An improvement in an area which was needed - yes over priced but all players are these days.

He is a good player john, better than what we have really, although I would have rather went for Micah Richards, who I think would do a better job, Johnson would do a good job for us because he is a very good footballer and would give us some attacking dimension in our team.

rip off price but he is a big improvement on Arbeloa, so lets hope he makes us forget about the fee with some quality performances.

I'm pretty sure Arbeloa will push for a move now.  We haven't paid that price for Johnson not to start him and Arbeloa knows it.  Plus Arbeloa has made a few comments about still having a point to prove in Spain.

Arbeloa and Dossena will both be sold now we've sealed the Johnson deal imo.  And personally I'll be sorry to see Arbeloa leave.  He's been a good signing for 2.5 mil or so and we'll double or even treble that fee if we sell him.  Dossena on the other hand :no .  Fat bas.tard.

well he is a liverpool player now and good luck to him - i think he will be a good signing and hopefully people can concentrate on what he brings us on the pitch as opposed to his price tag - he has already jumped over one big hurdle by turning down more money and chelsea that to me speaks volumes about the guy

he's a good player and will improve our defence. OK, its a lot of money, but that's because he's English and other top clubs wanted him.

Welcome to LFC lad.  :)

As previously stated I think he's a good player who has the tools to become an absolute top one. If you are going to play Dirk Kuyt at right midfield, you need a right back who can beat a player, get forward, has pace, can knock a good ball in, can score a goal and gets beyond the play. It doesn't overly matter if he doesn't run around a lot. Johnson fits the bill for me.

and if reports are to be believed, we'll make a nice little profit on Arebola.
