hang on, i think many are missing something or probably failed high school accounts. we're paying 18.5mil(or whatever) for him, but since Pompey owes us 7mil, we only pay 11.5mil. that doesnt make a difference does it? because it's not like we're able to get back the 7mil.

its 18,5 however it is you spin it... some will argue about this summer's budget and how we can only afford to pay so much as an inital payment..etc etc

End of the day, most clubs wont demand a cash deal with all the money... most talk installments over certain time periods... if we decide to sell we wouldnt be getting the money as cash, but rather as installements so it doesnt make that much of a difference, not to me anyways...

end of the 18.5 mill is the figure to be looked at

Now lets see where glen's heart lies , with money thus he will go back to chelsea or whether he wants to play for us for he will be first team week in and week out .

If we do sign him, we'll rue the decision IMO.

Not good enuff defensively. Carra, Skrtel and Agger aren't quick enuff to cover his defensive frailties. Reported party boy, questionable work ethic and not too bright. So what if he is the England RB? Not hard to displace Neville is it?

Another Pennant in the making. Give me Arbeloa any day..... way better to find an alternate solution at right midfield for that kind of money. Good certainly but not good enuff my any means methinks.

Hypothetical question here. If he goes to Chelsea and Arby still want's to go anyway who do we try to get in? Even if Arby doesn't want to go he is still backup at best.

I would say rafinha , rafa's been interested in him before , he's quick can dribble and defensively is sound , would be worth around 10 to 12 million i guess

Perhaps we believe that 17M is outrageous for a full-back with questionable skills, and who is in no way superior to what we have. I reckon Rafa has made a serious error on Johnson
