I always thought Benni had a lot of potential, glad to see he has got his act together and that Rafa has been giving him more chances to play and also given him more freedom. In my opinion he will just get better and better.

Our most improved player. No doubt he's showing the kind of form now that Benitez always seen in his plans. However, he's still not exactly on a first team basis in the team. He is still very much a squad player, but a very good addition to the squad at that. I'm pleased we have him atm.

I think "most improved player" is going a bit far, I think he's shown some good form recently but yet to show that he can sustain that form and show consistency. Kuyt has come on in leaps and bounds as a RM, Benayoun has shown good recent form but not necessarily permanent improvement.

Name me a better improved player than him in our squad this season. I'm all ears.

I think even last season he played well. It's just with Stevie having spent more time injured this season we have seen more of Yossi. He had some important games and moments for us last year too. Set up Torres for a goal in that comeback against Reading in the cup as well as some other important assists (Torres semi final) and goals (hatrick vs Besiktas, Wigan away)

He also set up that important goal for Torres in CL semi-final at Bridge against Chelski. Went through the heart of Chelsi's defense with the ball and passed it to Torres who finished it beautifully.

Kuyt is by far our most improved player this season, and Yossi is the next one.

I agree that Benayoun has put in some great performances in the time he's been here, but even allowing for his inconsistent selection he's also been pants at times. So too has Kuyt, but I think Kuyt has put in some consistency to his game so that bad form is just that rather than being bad with spells of good form.

Maybe this needs a poll....................... "most improved player". Candidates include Aurelio, Insua, Kuyt, Benayoun, Lucas

You can't include Insua. He has only played a handful of games and except for the mistake last week I think most would say he played well in all of them.

I think you missed my previous post. I agree wholeheartedly with you. Kuyt is our most improved player and then Yossi.

I don't think I missed any posts, I was merely pointing out that Benayoun has always had some good games for us, but we seem to have forgotten a few of his stinkers. The point re Kuyt is you could claim his is form rather than improvement, the two can be hard to distinguish so I was offering the case for the opposition

bav - I agree re Insua, but others have him down as "most improved" and even though he hasn't played a lot, has he not improved? You or I may not vote him "most improved", but I bet if you did a poll and left it out that someone would request his inclusion. Better to include all options people might vote for than not, even if one option gains nil pwa

Maybe some people would want him in that poll. But to have demonstrated improvment one would have had to made a similar number of appearances last season to compare to. He only made 3 appearances last year and 2 before that. Maybe next season if he carries on the same as he is now then we can say he is most improved on last year ect...Anyone who wants him in a poll this year is stupid. :D

He is a young player breaking into the first team so improvment is obviously going to be part of his game otherwise we wouldn't be seeing him play in the 1st team that much at all. He would be back in the ressies.

Did I just contradict myself?
