Do you know what though i went through a similar situation in 77 , we were going for the treble , lLeague won, we played them in the fa cup final, broke my heart to get beat by them but it only took me  a few days an a train journey from hell to get over it :nod But this time erm no i honestly think i would be done for to get beat by them in  European cup final, Especialy in our Rome

Ah youve got me i think im being swayed to lets batter them in Rome,

Am only 29 so wasnt lucky enough to be around in 77 but have seen countless dvd's the official history and that, and the only thing that probably made losing the FA cup final acceptable was that there was the european a few days later.

Imagine winning the leage and then those tw@ts beating us in the champions leagie final (last game of the season) ??

When we won the champions league in 05 united had won the league just before, but our win made there title triumph seem insignificant.

Imagine all the rubbish about them being the first team to retain the champions league and that ?

We would probably get made to feel that we only won the league as united were more concerned with europe etc etc bullshitetc !!

As i said nightmare question Scott, but in that scenario it would have to be europe.

Only in that scenario mind.

Mine has us winning the league with united getting done by wenger in europe, that woukd be fergies worst nightmare  :D

The league for me by a country mile.

1990 is a long time ago - I was only 14. Every August since then I've convinced myself that this is our year and it NEVER is. I know plenty of Manc supporters and I've had to listen to them and watch as United have gone on to win at least 10 titles getting ever closer to our record. Sickening. I would LOVE to win the league. If we won the league I think I'd be fairly immune to their abuse if they beat us in the final of the European Cup.

I wouldn't enjoy it but I'd think back to 3 days before when we beat them over 38 games to reach number 19 and that's a pretty class consolation. You'd see it in your best mans eyes as well. He'd be wondering, just a bit, if United's years of dominance were coming to an end. He'd know they had a :censored: easy route to the final whereas we played and beat the best teams in the competiton whilst also coming from 7 points back (and them with a game in hand) to win the league. He'd know that Fergie, Giggs, Scholes and Nevilles time was coming to an end. He'd know that we had beaten them comfortably home and away in the league.

Unfortunately I think the league is the best measure of a team and I think if we could win it we would be returning to the very top of world football which would be magic.

BTW I got married at the end of June 2005 - what a year that was! I kept disappearing on my new bride to check the hotel's internet for updates on the second Gerrard saga, I was on this forum quite a bit although she didn't know it. :D

Anyways - definitely the league for me.

chelsea won the league in 05, the mancs came third and lost the fa cup final, they got nothing then had to watch us win the champions league in the greatest match ever! happy days :)

i like this bit of your post mate! It's bang on but I'm still gonna have to go for Europe. were I not getting married that week I'd go for the league no doubt.

Remember the league Cup final in 2003? we had a shoddy season I recall but winning that League Cup final against the mancs made up for it for me. I don't get too excited about the League Cup, who does? But to beat the mancs in the final felt as good as losing the FA Cup in 96 felt bad.

It has to be the league but like I said I cant stand the thought of losing to the Mancs in Rome.

I'm more scared of that than losing the league.

Do we have to play utd in the CL final? :D

It's bad enough losing to them in anything let alone chosing one or the other and knowing they will get the other. However I would go with the league. Yes Europe is great but that is a romance. The league is the bread and butter and it's what we have wanted again for so long. PLus I would not want the mancs levelling us on leagues won.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.
