If we are to even think about staying level with Utd for the rest of the campaign we need to be firing on all cynlinders and that means Keane too. I don't care if he doesn't like being subbed. Tough. Don't miss so many easy chances when you do get the chance and maybe you wont get subbed.

Face reality, Keane has started in the majority of games this season and he has been very disappointing from a goal scoring point of view and that is not criticism it is a fact. If you cannot see that his failure to take the shot against Preston instead of putting Alonso in a difficult position then I think it is you that needs to get a grip!
If his ego is so incredibly fragile then it is something he needs to get over and very quickly if he is going to be any use to us in the second half of the season.
Just admit that blaming Keane for Alonso's injury is pathetic.
If you don't think that Keane's incredibly fragile ego and unacceptable lack of confidence didn't put Alonso in trouble against Preston then I suggest a visit to Specsavers is required. Keane was a £20m embarrassment against Preston and that was pathetic! You have been banging his drum for a very long time and you have still failed to convince me and many others that Keane is the man for the job. He has been given numerous opportunities and failed to deliver so much so that Rafa has no confidence in him - WHAT A SURPRISE!
John - let's face it we are never going to agree. I do no share your Irish admiration for Robbie Keane and I doubt that I ever will. I really still hope he will come good and prove me wrong but the clock is ticking.

Totally agree. Shame others can't see it and offer huge undeserved levels of sympathy to a player that has disappointed far too often

Disappointed far too often??
FFS he's only been here half a season

And don't try to convince me that it was an admirable piece of unselfish play !!!

This whole notion that Keane got Alonso injured with a hospital pass is just complete and utter nonsense. Keane did pass up the shot in the dying minutes of the first half at Preston but he laid it off for Riera, not Alonso. Riera had his shot blocked by Davidson and the ball squirted loose in the box. Alonso tried to get there first but Davidson got up from his sliding challenge quickly and got his tackle in just as Alonso was making contact--that's how he got injured. It's all very clealy visible HERE starting at about the 1:35 mark. Any suggestion that the blame for Alonso's injury lies with Keane simply reeks of bias towards the Irishman.
