Me too mate, I prefer 4-4-2, but not with the players we have available  :(

Wtf difference would a 4-5-1 have made, except isolate Torres even more.

The whole team was pretty quiet today. Alonso was the only sub who made an impact.

One of the first sensible posts I've read, really.

So you were happy with our play then were you, what would you have changed? I'm guessing you wouldn't have taken off Irish Keane? If you can't see that we should have started with Alonso and that having 5 in midfield would have meant we actually controlled the midfield then you must have a different interpretation of football to almost everyone else on this thread.

You're smart. I love how people notice Alonso start spreading the ball about then cluck their tongues and spout shyte like, "see, Rafa got it wrong" and "I told you Alonso should have started". Has it occurred to you, oh wise one, that the game was starting to stretch and that we were the fitter of the two sides, and invariably, Alonso was always going to get on the ball more and start pinging passes, but to whom? None really made a huge impact, or created a really guild edge chance, did they? Also, Alonso could have been carrying a little niggling injury, or was short of fitness, but seeing you're at Melwood every day, you'd have known this and seen Rafa's notes.

well if rafa played 4-5-1 and we still drew... the tune on this forum's gonna be how can rafa be so negative playing torres as lone striker and getting him isolated when he isn't even 100%... now wouldn't it?  :no ...

We have got a great first 11 (12 actually as you've got Gerrard/Masch/Alonso in the midfield to pick 2 from) but outside that, the next tier is awful. Lucas and Babel were abysmal today.

Rafa was effectively gambling that the other players playing around clowns like those two could do enough to get is the win.......after all, it's Fulham at home. Well the gamble didn't pay off and we got what we deserved......a poor draw to a poor side.

Disappointing but not the end of the world. At least the Chavs were held and the Manc have got a reasonably tough game against Villa. Speaking of Villa, this game reminds of that performance a bit.

Just to let you know babel is a striker not a left winger even henry was :censored: playing left wing he didn't turn out bad did he ?

For a genius he sure makes a lot of mistakes doesn't he? Overall this season he has been good, Rafa that is, but the last few games have seen the return of mr unpredictable.

The thing is come the end of the season we dont want to be looking back a shed load of missed points. Already we have Stoke, Spurs and now this to look back on as all games we should have won. We got lucky in the sense that Chelsea didnt win either but Utd can close the gap now. With Chelsea to play Arsenal still there could have been another chance to go further ahead but we have blown this chance. I think it is time to bench Keane and give Babel a run as much as I dont like him.

no team wins every game... if you look at the seasons that man u won, they lost to some pretty crappy teams sometimes with score lines like 3-0, 4-0...

we didn't win but same goes for chelsea...

Yeah but when they do drop points usually it's not at home like us. (ok Chelsea today fair enough). The point is Utd are more than likely to win their home games so we need to be too just to give us that chance. But Rafa (fair play to him) is trying to force people like Lucas and Keane to blend in with the squad when its quite evident that they do not work for us. At whatc point does he take a step back and say ok this is hurting us as we are dropping points we could have on if I played a different formation without them? Im just sayin...

Villa should play out of their skin this evening, a chance to push arsenal out of the top 4
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Still joint top of the league and its near December. What the f*ck else do people want? The thing is, is that amazingly we could have been about 8 points clear at the top, but the business end of the season is after the New Year. We'll still be in it by then. People are moaning as if we're out of it already. Un-f*cking-believable.

Championship performance!!!!!!!!!!!! What full of :censored:, Keane is not worth 18p, you will get from him, a miss of the season each game, that is guaranteed, he is out of his depth, and ought to be dropped, and off loaded him for one £1M to cut the losses, for the best buy of the season by your beloved Benitez.  Riera ( :censored:) Leiva ( :censored:)  he has not improved under Benitez. Plessis is better than him in that postion.

Overall it was a very lousy game, TOTAL SHAMBLES, BUT A CHAMPIONSHIP PERFORMANCE IN BENITEZ'S EYES!!!!!!!!!!

I know what his position is "supposed to be" but that doesn't take away the fact he is a poor player. Runs down blind alleys, doesn't get his head up, gives the ball away, lacks awareness and looks like he doesnt give a toss.

Don't care where he plays, he's never a Liverpool player IMO.

Yer he was awful. And it doesnt matter what his 'position' is. Kuyts position is striker but you dont see him moaning and he is still coming up with his fair share of goals.

you've got a point bav... ultimately this has to be seen as an opportunity lost as chelsea drew against newcastle at home... however, I'm just not into ppl criticising rafa whenever things don't go right... not saying it is u but those ppl would say why didn't rafa play B formation when he played A. But if rafa played B, they would say why didn't rafa play A? No manager gets it right all the time... these criticisms in actual fact is not because of the formation but because we didn't win... that's all...
