Liverpool vs fulham - Thoughts for the match at fulham

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Sissoko » Thu Oct 20, 2005 11:04 pm

I think we should play a kind of 4-4-1-1 with garcia playing that attacking midfielder role. Heres my team i think rafa should play:

--------------Reina----------
---Finnan---JC---Hypia---warnock
---Alonso--Sissoko--Gerrard--riise
------------Garcia-------------
------------Cisse--------------

Thats providing gerrard is fit, what do you think?

I think you have got the right idea about the formation but my interpretation of what the team will be is a little different.

                               Reina

        Josemi     Carra        Sami     Traore

  Finnan        Alonso       Hamann/Gerrard  Riise

                           Gerrard/Garcia

                                 Cisse

Obviously this team depends on stevie's fitness and whether rafa chooses to play him in one of 2 posititions IMO.
I wouldn't personally choose traore at LB but at the moment i think rafa has chosen to leave warnock out of the firing line in away matches after his hiccup at Birmingham.
If the team is the same as yours 'SISSOKO' then I think you're more likely to see momo or garcia on the right than alonso as he will be totally wasted out on the right.

All we can do is speculate at this stage and no matter what ideas we put forward he one that counts is rafa's and his is the one that we must trust.

Finnan is out for 8-10 days with a hamstring, he won't be playing

----------------Reina---------------
Josemi     Carragher      Hyppia       Traore
Riise      Alonso         Hamann         Kewell
---------------Gerrard---------------
--------------Ciise-------------------

Riise on the right to assist and support Josemi, who is slow on the ball as Riise is a versatile and hardworking player.. He can also exploit Fulham's left back and take shots from the right, which is more accurate and comfortable for a leftie.. Cheers...

Alonso on the right is really a waste. No doubt he can cross(who gonna finish.?.) but somebody experience to anchor and hold the midfield is more important...

I think we are agreed that Cisse should start, he is our only striker on form. He has to start!

I think this will be the team...

--------------Reina
Josemi-----JC---SH----Warnock
-------------Sissoko
--------Alonso--SG---Riise
--------------Crouch
---------------Cissé

Last time I saw Fulham they had a lot of pace in wide areas, so the above might not be a good idea, but Rafa seems to keep it narrow.

We don't have the proper wingers to keep it wide

well out of that riise is not bad for the left but down the right (which is becoming a big problem) there is no width
