I think if we're gonna have a match thread I'd rather Manhatten started it.

Or some kind of effort put in to an opener.

Looks like Atletico have lost three of their last four games, although they were against Barcelona (6-1), Sevilla (1-0) and Real Madrid (2-1). A win would put us in a commanding position to go through, with two home games to come and PSV away who appear the weakest team in the group by some distance. I'd settle for a draw in this, not push for a win we don't really need with a much more difficult away game at the weekend. Last thing we need is injuries, I'd almost be tempted to rest Gerrard and maybe even our best player - Kuyt! :D

I think Rafa is going to come out with a 4-2-3-1 with Keane being the sole striker. Furthermore, I also think he will play this formation to get he players playing well in this formation for the Chelsea match where he will put the 4-2-3-1 out.

I'd settle for a draw but sincerely hope we don't play for one. Not advocating a cavalry charge but we can win this one. We should at least be looking to score wouldn't like to see us being to cautious and then at 0-0 getting mugged in the last few minutes.

Rafa has a great record in spain, I don't think we ever lost against any spanish opposition in their own turf

IN SPAIN:

Deportivo 1-0
Real Betis 2-1
Barcelona 2-1

I wouldn't be surprised if we got a result

0-2 to the men in Red!  (keane, Kuyt)

it couldve been worse, with dawson putting as the opener as:

2 quick notes:

Torres won't go to Madrid to see the match in order to keep working on his recovery. Maybe this means that there are serious possibilities of having him against Chelsea?

The Atletico supporters will show their back while the Champions song is played as a protest for the banning of their stadium.

welcome to Madrid...

"Madrid is a boomtown: the fastest growth rate in Spain, and one of the fastest in Europe. That’s where you’re going … a citadel of tradition, a feast of café life, but also an economic force in the Mediterranean. Life may go at a different pace – you’ll have to learn to slow things down – and the bureaucracy is daunting. But Madrid is sunny, colorful, and opens late for business and fun. It’s always been a city of outsiders, whether non-Madrileños or expatriates, so you’ll feel at home in no time."
