If a bid came in for him I would say sell him. He is definatley no longer needed on the left as Riera looks like he can fit the bill. I know it sounds like a long shot and its not everyones preferred topic but if Owen came to us for free then we could sell Babel and put that money towards either a decent full back of RM.

i actually wouldnt even consider it unless its a really good offer..
Hes a great option to have on the bench and seeing that we dont have many players who can come on and make a difference (and make no mistake about it Babel is one), id keep him and look to sell one of the players who dont actualy contribute anything to the team.. the voronins and benayouns..

i undderstand all the frustration about his play and while i agree with most that he isnt quite the top player some make him out to be, i for one think that given time he can develop enough experience to understand his limitations as a player amd play to his strengths... he'd become quite the good player if he could do that !

Anyways owen is a whole different story to me.. think hed make a great signing and addition to our starting lineup.. far better than keane when fit.. and hes proved at newcastle that he can play a deeper role if told to do so..

need to sort out our right side for now and if we can sign a rightback or right winger in january .. id be over the moon.

I would sell him, if only the right offer comes in.

He is a goal threat, a good squad player that can get a goal when we need one.

No way keep him he will only gain value over next few years.

Has he improved yes has he become a top prem player no of course not mainly bcos he hasn't been given a run in team , played out of position and lacks confidence.

Not saying babel and torres are same so don't get on my back but torres looked like he had really poor touch and control and was running into players but few games and he looked better.

If only babel would get that backing maybe you would see a better player imo.

torres had poor touch and was running into players ?

not even when he was at atletico...

running past players and skimming them... yes.. not always goin past his player yes.. but nothing like babel and his funny runs at times...he tries the one touch pass at times and more often than not ends up giving away possession... nothing like torres except for the fact that maybe theyr both very direct and have pace and look to go past players using their pace...  but torres is some lightyears better than babel is atm !

Wow this thread has now evolved into whether we should sell babel , in his 2nd season as well where he has only had 1 start and has done well , got us a goal and our first win against united . Absolute Disgrace some on here, give the lad time , he's a great option to have , owen is good but we can't play all 3 , keane , torres and owen together .
Owen is a great striker but he could never beat his man by skills , sure he has the pace and first touch but babel has the skills , pace may have to work on his first touch like Ruud van nisterooy who improved his by hard work . I'd like to see babel up top for at least 5 games and see if he does have any effect . He does have the instinct and eye for goal , but for now he's a great option to have on the bench

I'm actually a bit confused why people criticise Babel so much, I think he is a good player who has a lot of potential. I would love to see him playing on the right wing and making that position his own. Riera on the left and Babel on the right with a confident Keane and Godlike Torres plus Stevie G lurking just behind them would scare the :censored: out of most defences.  :buttrock

Comparing Babel... a pile of turd.

To a former european player of the year...

Jesus tonight... I've heard it all now. Really have.

no i think we need all the people we can get, that actually has a track record scoring against manchester united.....to not recognize  this would be foolish. it all depends on how you feel about manchester united and if you have already lost all memories of who scored the winner.

Well the former europen player was a poacher because of his pace won't you agree , when have we seen owen beat a man by dribbling pass him , its usually a pin point pass and pace . Sure owen was twice the player than babel is at his age , but i think ryan will come good , i know you don't rate him but that does not mean everything he does is rubbish , have you every praised babel , you've always shown his bad points , never said anything good about him . Fact .

A poacher because of his pace?

He had pace yes, but, he could pass, run, finish, head a ball, positionally excellent, movement was excellent, ran the line well, could hold the ball up, had a first touch, could play football, could take the ball on the move, influenced games. I also would suggest you look at his goals against Coventry, Argentina, Man Utd and just about every goal he scored.

Babel's :censored:, he does the odd decent thing once every ninety minutes and everyones up his :censored:. He's :censored:, he'll never a make a player, he'll never learn and thats why Rafa went and signed Reira instead, and for the "Babel's a striker brigade :D thats why he can't get a game ahead ofa miserabely out of form Keane). End of arguement.
