Did you actually watch Inusa play the last couple of games at the end of last season? The lad played better better and showed more potential than any of our other left-backs did all season. From where I was sitting he looked quick, had a decent touch, liked a tackle, liked to get forward and was a tough little bugger for a small lad. That's why he's been given a new contract.

he didnt cause no one exists by that name :D

He's been whoring his face all over the BBC for the past month, even publicly going on about the situation on live TV; this after accusing Rafa and the club of trying to unsettle Barry through the press.
I have just one question, did Rafa actually mention his desire to sign Barry through the press cause the first I heard of it was when MO'N started bad mouthing LFC. As far as I'm aware it was MO'N who went public with the whole thing first.

MO'N has seemingly backed himself into a corner now over this situation. He and Villa have basically burnt their bridges with their club captain now by disciplining him publicly. The trust between player and manager looks to have been broken and now there looks to be no way back for either side. If MO'N wants the best for AV he should take what is on offer cause Rafa ain't gonna offer anymore and then Barry is probably just gonna be left bench warming whilst his contract runs down.

Thats what I've been trying to say, Rafa didn't go publically, it was MON who really did

I thought that meself.

I've always been under the impression that MO'N had taken a newspaper article as being gospel and has brought the story into public himself. He was either being a complete dumb@ss or was trying to manipulate Barry into pledging his future to AV or pressuring us to pay top dollar for him. To me it's now starting to look like it's backfiring on MO'N.

These might seem fanciful fees today but they show us exactly where transfer prices are going for the top players so you might say that in 2 years most first team and squad players will be in the region 15-20 million. Hence the big clubs get bigger and Everton get smaller.

Now if that hasnt caught Platini´s attention in the last 2 weeks then he really is daft.

:D don't expect too much from platini

As for everton they'd after Aimar  :D

Even if he's on £100k a year, which I doubt he is, that's only £5.2m a year and 3 x £5.2m isn't £18m so if we can do it that way we should look into it as it would only be more expensive if he has four years left and I get the feeling you can only do it in the last two or one. I suggest that may be the best way forward for football, abandon transfer fees and just make teams buy out contracts

That could be the best way around this if it doesn't get resolved soon.

I read he got fined two weeks wages which was said to be around 80 grand so he must be on 40 grand per week*. I feel sorry for him if this move fails to go ahead, he is already hated by the majority of Villa fans and since there has been no news of any other clubs being interested he could be left in a very awkward situation.

Personally I feel that to much has happened for him NOT to join us now and it looks sure to happen in the next couple of days. I get the feeling that once the deal goes through it will kick off a lot of transfer activity for a few clubs and the silly season will start.

* Disclaimer - that was just something I read, I have no inside knowledge on Gareth Barry his agent or Aston Villa  :)

better keep it to a whisper because Crouch only has one year left on his deal, and we don't want anyone buying out his contract before we sell him to spurs for Keane

I always thought O'Neill reminded me of those numpty fan boys you see at a Star Trek convention who value their comic books and special collectors edition Pez dispensors at a ridiculous price. This just proves my point, the guy is a complete and utter t.o.s\spot.

We should just keep offering him less and less everytime he speaks to the media. That will teach him to shut the h.e\ll up!

Get this through your thick skull you little troglodyte, VILLA is a mediocore middle table club and your so called "ambitions" are that of drunken Mad Hatter. You don't tell us what Barry is worth, WE tell you that. The sooner you understand your place in the footbal world the quicker you can run along home and play with your Star Trek action figurines!

MON needs to wake up as I think he's in a delusional state now. Barry is allowed to leave, the bargaining chip is now with us not with MON. 18M is ridiculous, actually even 15M is a bit too much. So Rafa should now adopt a take-it-or-leave-it attitude. If MON dun wanna sell, so be it, he will have an unhappy player sulking away in his team. Our top priority should be getting Robbie Keane anyway - just my 2-cents worth of humble opinion.
