can anyone confirm this?

Yes he did say that.  He also said Mascherano's Liverpool form is nowhere near the standard of his Argentina form and he needs to be able to do more while in possession of the ball to warrant a 17million price tag.

To be perfectly honest I kind of agree.  Not sure about his Argentina form being better than his Liverpool form, but I'm not entirely sure he's worth 17 million.  He's a good player no doubt and at his age he'll get better (Souness also seemed to think Mascherano was 25/26 which is obviously wrong), but the fee seems inflated.

Then again we do have the financial backing these days and should be able to pay top dollar for players.  For that reason I'm not necessarily opposed to paying that for him, I just think it's a bit more than he's worth.

i've just got three words for souness.

owen, boumsong, luque.

He was also pimping himself around for jobs last night.  Basically said he wanted the Scotland job.  God help them if he gets it.  How can he even be considered with his managerial record?

i nearly spat my beer out when i heard souness say that (nearly)

heres the man that bought david speedy, michael tomas, paul tomas etc

has been sacked from liverpool,newcastle,rangers,fenebache,

arrogant c@nt know feck all, masha is a leg end, he is momo plus passing and composure and while momo will be everywhere winning ball masha can do that and control a midfield

momo should never be booed or all that sh!te because of the effort he puts in ever game but a transfer at a profit makes sense any time now

if you combine the flash partying spice boys image with a champions league win, then you become an attractive place to be at.

but if you are just a donkey working hard so that only benitez and the scouse players gets all the glory then whats the point...who would want to stick around there.

in the spice boys days fowler was god but everybody else was a star also.
now i'm hearing gerard won us the champions league all on his own.

so basically we are telling the other players that no matter what they do it does not matter, because there is only room for one star at anfield and it must be a scouser.

a bit like arsenal players could not be bothered to make henry look good and take all the credit...so they held back until he went.

i don't want gerard to go to find out our players are actually pretty good. i want stars all over the pitch not just scouse stars.

gerard is amazing but people need to get away from the scouse agenda.

people need to start looking at why people would come to liverpool and why they might leave.

i've seen games that gerard is rubbish yet some how he is man of the match.
compared to fowler gerard is actually god but we need to encourage the other players also

Comedy post of the month!  What colour's the sky in your world, lad?  :D

i see bad boob is still angry with my post about fowler the god.....the same god who was allowed to leave because.....cheesy people wanted to get behind houlier and sing his name...in houlier we trust.....in rafa we trust.

if fowler is such a legend and great how was he sent packing with such little fuss and people saying "we have to get behind houlier,he just won the treble"

Yes but you have to ask yourself, what does he actually offer???

I have heard the figure of 17m being banded about for Mascerano's permanent  residence at Anfield.

Simply not worth it. I worry about Rafa sometimes. How come he can let a player like Didi Hamann go, and excellent tackler and controller of the midfield go to City.??and then talk about paying 17m for Mascerano?
Why they F*** do you think Man City are in the Top 3 right now in the EPL?? down to one man in the midfield. Hamann!!!

total respect!

Mascerano is not a Xabi Alonso, and I dont even think he is as good as Mohammed Sissoko.

17m or let him go?

Let him so. He aint worth it.

its a no Brainer. for 17m, I want KAKA from Milan.

Kaka would be a good buy for Liverpool.

Excellent value for money.

In fact for the same amount of money we'd have to pay for him, Liverpool FC could buy a space shuttle and launchpad facilities.
