Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

With no Champions league this or probably next year the onnly way we can finance a new team if a new manager arrives now/end of season is to cash in on Owen.We would still get 20-25 million but valuation are dropping all over the place and so will his.
A whole newe style of play is required and if we have to sacrifice the top man then so be it.Remember when Rushie went and a certain Mr Aldridge did the unthinkable and replaced him?
If money is obtainable elsewhere excellent but we are a business and unless we are wimming/qualifying tournaments
it will dry up, Jesus look at Leeds?
As a side point why are we not in for Rivaldo, sheer class and he would set any team alight, even if it is for 2 years max, sign him now Gerard he could save your job

Rivaldo is not an option. He is years past his best and couldn't get a club in the summer.

Rivaldo not an option! Give me a break. He could still p#ss from a grat height over 90% of our squad! Just cos he hasn't done it in Italy ( remember Henry at Juventus, Bergkamp at Inter?) doesn't mean he couldnt do it in England, where most defences are cr#p including ours. It wasn't too long ago that he was among the highest goalscorers in the World cup. Give me a break!

Sell Owen, you must be Fecking crazy!!! One of our home grown talents so we can cash in on a few million!!
How about we sell Smicer, Biscan, Diao, Cheyrou, Heskey! That should be what owens worth, and we probably won't even notice there gone!

You did make a good point about Rivaldo tho!! Still a top class player!

I still maintain that Rivaldo is past it. ???

He looked short of pace in the 2002 World Cup and he couldn't get into AC Milan's team last year.

His agent offered him to the likes of Liverpool, Newcastle and Chelsea in the summer but nobody was interested.

Real Madrid were offered him for nothing last month but they laughed it off.

I think that an Eric Cantona type player would be a great help to Liverpool (it should have been Jari Litmannen) but I think that Rivaldo would struggle in the Premiership.
