I am so gutted that Luis has gone, who ever comes in to replace him has to be very special.
I cannot say I have seen a lot of Torres I am pleased that we are now starting to compete with the mancs and Chelsea but he is very very expensive.
And there will be a lot of pressure on the young fella.

F9Torres I know how you feel losing your star player he will be looked after at our special club  :)

Torres cuts short holiday, poised to move to Liverpool

MADRID, July 2 (Reuters) - Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres has arrived back in Madrid after cutting short a holiday in order to approve an expected 27-million-pound ($54.29-million) move to Liverpool, Spanish media reported on Monday.

The future of the 23-year-old Spain international has been the subject of intense speculation since the end of the Spanish season.

The speculation reached fever pitch after Atletico signed Uruguay forward Diego Forlan from Villarreal at the weekend in a move that appears designed to cover the likely departure of their club captain.
Sports daily Marca reported on its Web site (www.marca.com) on Monday that sources close to the player had said a deal was very close to being finalised.

If the move does go through for the reported sum, it would be the highest transfer fee paid for a Spanish player. The record is held by midfielder Gaizka Mendieta who moved from Valencia to Lazio for $41 million in 2001.

Torres, who joined Atletico as an 11-year-old, has been the club's top scorer for the last five seasons, completing his most successful campaign in 2003-04 when he struck 19 goals.
Liverpool midfielder Luis Garcia, who is expected to move in the opposite direction, arrived in Madrid on Monday to undergo a medical on his injured knee prior to a likely return to his former club.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Well it's looking like something is finally gonna happen on the transfer front for us with the signing of Torres. I'm a bit gutted at the departure of Lil' Luis as no matter how frustrating he could be there was always that little bit of magic hiding somewhere in his boots.

Adios Luis and thanks for the memories - Juve(2005) and of course Chel$ki (2005).

As for Torres, I've said before that I don't think he'll be the 20 goal a season striker we want and that £20-25 million is over the odds for him.Rafa appears to be happy with that fee and so long as it isn't going to hinder any other transfers why question it before the lad has had the chance to play for us?
I fully agree with what BIGMICK posted a few pages back that anyone expecting Torres to come in and bang away 20 goals is wrong and very naive in my books. Just look at some of the so called best strikers in the league in recent years i.e.Henry & Drogba took a year to settle into the league and Torres will probably be no different.

I've got my doubts but I'm prepared to put those aside to give the lad a chance to show what he can offer the team if/when the deal goes through and I hope all other Liverpool fans will.

I feel this becaue when we were in Second Division 7 years ago, a boy appeared and he obtained to deceive us, in the worse moment of our history. This year the team has been mediocre, and every summer Torres had offers of the best teams of Europe. He did not want negociate. He always said he did not play ever in Real Madrid, and in my country, this made that a lot of people hated him. He is our symbol, a player who is the image of a fan, he feel that colours, red and white, and this shield, like me. Now, I hope the best for him, what is the best for Liverpool. Enjoy it. I will wait him with the door open. I always liked LFC, since today, I am a supporter. Come on reds.

EDIT: I supose yuo have seen a lot of videos about Torres. This is one of the best, very complete:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v....search=

he'll be well looked after, dont worry about that. LFC can take care of their own.

im very sad to see Garcia go the other way also....little magician, sometimes i wanna rip off my foot to beat him with it he can be so annoying, but then a minute later he will make me want to make sweet love to him by the brilliance he can come up with

hope we are both successful in all this. alot of money exchanging hands, and players we want to wish well..

Well that's your opinion, and as of now he's a LFC player so at least give him your backing otherwise you can stop calling yourself a supporter.

well even though you lost your favourite player, which is devastating i know, i think that you can feel a bit better from the fact that AM did a very good deal... and also you've got forlan and garcia now... really something to ease the pain and look forward to...

by the way they say that the garcia deal and torres deal are not officially linked... but what's the difference? i think that they just say that so as to not make it appear they got less money for torres than the buy-out clause (which it would have looked like if it's a player + cash deal)...

guys im sorry for you, Torres is well know in whole Spain except for Atletico supporters, as a OVERRATED PLAYER.

But Atletico sold him as an icon... he is his best scorer 14 goals ( 4 penalties done and 2 goals after fail the penalty) with all the team playing for him.

He is really overrated, dont expect a class player Liverpool!

I wish you know Spanish and read objetive comments about Torres just here > http://www.marca.com/edicion....28.html

All non Atletico supporters affirms 30 million € + Luis Garcia is a overpaid movement, and as i told before all says Torres is the most overated player in the Spanish History.

Anyway Good luck for him, with or without Torres i want Liverpool winning tittles !
