The fernando torres thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Yes, it's what you say.

Apparently Torres didn't expect to close the negotiations so soon and expected it would take a bit longer to agree all the details of the contract. According to Marca Rick Parry has accelerated the process and thus Torres has interrupted his holidays in order to close the deal with his sign.

As for the question Scott rises in the previous page, Torres has played alongside another striker this seasons, Kezman, Aguero for instance. He picked the ball far from the goal to make his play often, so he hasn't played as a "man in the box" too often, because his main features as a player (pace, dribbling ) are more dangerous outside.

I'm curious to see how Rafa deploys him in the pitch to be honest.

I was discussing this with a mate of mine yesterday Sabre. Basically he keeps reaffirming again and again that 82 goals in 212 games is not the scoring record of an out and out striker.

I was telling him that I don't think you should read too much into that figure. When you break into a team at 17, you very rarely end up 20-25 goals a season immediately. He is now approaching his prime years as a striker.

As you say, whether he ends up with 20-25 goals at Liverpool is as much down to playing style, as Torres qualities. Benitez likes the goals spread around the team, and hopefully Torres comtribution will help our midfield players score their share of the goals this season.

On YNWA it's saying that we have paid less than Madrid are saying but we agreed to let them say it was higher so their fans take the bait. Also we wanted him to sign a 6 year deal he only wants 4.

I agree Adam, too much quoting of the rag this days, plus, what the rag says is not true, as usual.

I was going to get the new shirt last monday but tried it on and it looked fooking horrible. It looks cheap and tacky with retro liver birds embosed every inch or so down the front.

Gutted!!!!!!

I'll wait for the euro one instead.

Torres yes a great talent but you don't know what you will get in the prem i think he needs a old head up top with him why not sign Owen for 9mil to help him along.

Owen and Torres up top  got to be up there with the best striking partnerships in football why not make it happen we could Owen is up for the move he is just wasting away at Newcastle.
