He's not capable of playing 90 mins anymore granted (even 60 - 70 is pushing it) but he's still more than capable of doing a job and scoring goals. He has been criminally underused this season and that is something most will agree on. thats true..and he's our 4th choice striker.  But this seems to be a no win situation, because Fowler isn't good enough to play every match and if he's a part player people say he's rusty and can't get into matches because he lacks fitness.

The only agenda i have is to see the best players in a Liverpool shirt.  I said the same thing when Barnes and Rush were past their peak.  People refused to accept these 'legends' weren't good enough and our team suffered for it.

I was looking at EddieC squad (As good as any above), and no matter how optomistically I look at it, that squad is NOT good enough to win the prem. A hard working squad with a couple of great players but a significant lack of the flair and quality needed.  I just hope Rafa can work miracles because unfortunately I think we will need one

Agree with that.

You need to get around 88+ points to win the league nowadays and I cant see us making that jump in one season.

Ferguson managed it, but he's very experienced in the Prem.

You need to have a great away record to get that total; I'm not convinced Rafa would play such attacking football away from home.

Again, i put my question again...do you agree that Barnes and Rush stayed at LFC beyond their peak?  You may think Fowler has a part to play...but what part is it? You slag off Rafa because he doesn't play Robbie very often, yet you say he should be used as a part player.  That doesn't make sense. If Fowler cannot be used as a regular 1st team player and he cannot adjust to being a bit part(10-20 min sub) player than i fail to see what he gives us.  The premier league is about pace and Fowler has lost ALL of his. If he gets the ball deep he struggles...and badly.

Benitez managed a massive jump though didn't he both at Valencia and at Liverpool, points in 2004-2005 was something like 57 - 2005-2006 to 82.

The fact is it can be done with the right signings as we aren't THAT far away. I stand by what I said though we need to sign at least 2 strikers and a top class centre half to play instead of Agger.

I did say Joey Barton is technically and tacitcally for that matter a better player than Steven yes.

I also stand by that statement and absoloute nothing I've seen of Barton makes me change my mind.

But at what point did I say that he was a better player?

At what point did I say physically or mentally he's in the same league? At what point did I say he can influence a game or lead a team like Gerrard?

He did, you're right. I did know that, but cant be @rsed typing too much.

It's the jump to Premier Champions I don't think we can make.

But one thing Rafa has to get dead right.

His signings need to be top class AND take to the Prem like ducks to water.
Its quality NOT quantity this time and I think everyone has said that.
Surely we can only afford 3 top signings, so it depends where he thinks these 3 are needed.

There's also the question about Rafa's tactics; even with 3 top signings - would he have us playing the attacking football away from home required to get that 88+ points?

So you don't agree that players can be world class, top class, good players, players etc?

Whiston Juniors FC, windy arbour road, Whiston, come down and I'll show you around and introduce you to a few people on a sunday, watch a kids game.

Listen to what the coaches who found Steven and Anthony Gerrard, Joey Barton, David Nugent, Lee Trundle etc etc etc etc etc say. People who've been there, done it, seen it and understand the game. The people who understand what it takes and understand the differences in a top class player and a decent one.

You can tell them they don't know what they're talking about.
