Strange atmosphere at the ground for a big European tie and it did turn into a bit of a 'rafa tribute' song night but it's job done and the players should be able to kick on with a win against city this weekend which will all but wrap up champs league qualification.

Gotta hold my hand up . Haven't had a good word to say about Pennant since we signed him , but last night he did look as though he was growing into the shirt . Took more RESPONSIBILITY than he's ever taken in previous games . Showed great application and belief ( ok, we were 3-0 up at the time  :D  ) .

Did enough last night... a good run out for a few of the other players.  Fowler did some magic little touches that showed his class (especially tickling the defenders nuts), Crouch is a fine player, Pennant looked a little better than normal and Zenden, well.... mmmmmm.... he's just not Liverpool material.  PSV didn't turn up and I think that's a good thing... it was an easy night.

I don't half miss Kuyt when he's not on the pitch not to mention Carra and Stevie.

Sat on the Kop for first time in 4 years but didn't have to sit down for one second! So much better watching the game stood by your seat.

If anyone doubted your inability to grasp the basics of football, this post is a golden example.  You feel bad for Fowler?  You should worry about yourself, lad, as you've managed to come across as a right t!t once more.  Save what little credibility you have and never, ever comment on Fowler again.  Your ignorance on all things God is the true embarrassment here.  :no

lad he's past it and most people agree....even Andry gray commented on fowler with the remark

"Its a time that comes to every player"

he was awful and its sad to see a liverpool legend look average against a poor PSV team.  But hey, he WAS good...lets give him another contract...perhaps get Rush back too and get him on a deal  :no

Yes, Andy Gray did say that when Tyler suggested that this might be the last time that either Fowler or Kluivert grace a European game.

But, if you'll recall, Gray also praised Robbie for setting up the Crouch goal.  "How many players would have just let that run out for a corner?", he said.  And, then, during the replay of the goal, he said [as though he were Fowler speaking to Crouch]: "there you go, son, tuck that away."  Clearly, Andy Gray was applauding Fowler's awareness, vision and unselfish play.  And rightly so, because he ended creating an easy goal for a teammate with a moment of quick thinking.  And, that was just one of several intelligent plays from Robbie last night.

Look, I'm not saying he's the Fowler of old.  I'm not saying he's not winding down his career.  I'm not saying he's got to be first choice every game.  What I am saying--as are a number of people who know the game--is that he still shows enough ability and intelligence to help us win games.  He's still an asset and your inability to either recognize that or acknowledge that has worn very thin with me.  You'll get your wish at the end of the season, of course, when his contract runs down but don't for one second sit there and try to claim that he hasn't helped us out immensely since he returned last January.  At least 9 of those 82 points we racked up last season are directly down to Fowler.

Yesterday somebody said his pass wasn't intentional, that he tried to bury it.

I said he tried to pass the ball to Crouch, but with the crappy images of online streams I couldn't tell.

I disagree those who say he was not good enough! players like him do not need to look where his teammate is, they do not think inside the box, it's instict.

A bad striker, quite simply, isn't in the correct position that Fowler was to get that loose ball. It's not luck, it happens because it's genetical.

In the first half he played a couple of balls with a lot of sense. And he made some movements with a lot of sense. I know he's not the Fowler of the old, but FFS, respect a good player.

The pass was definitely intentional, mate.  In fact, I was surprised as I reckoned he would have had a go himself in most cases (and would have been one of the few who could score from there).  Instead, he recognized instinctively that Crouch was nearby and set him up for the tap in.  Great point about how few players would have been on the spot to do anything in that situation.  He may have lost a step or two of pace but his footballing brain still ensures he gets in great positions.  Respect!  :bowdown
