BIRMINGHAM VS LIVERPOOL - FA CUP QUARTER FINAL BUILD UP

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby kazza » Mon Mar 20, 2006 10:21 am

Last year it did not look like we had anything to play for except fourth place and then we went on to be champions of Europe. This year we look so much better in the league (we have surpassed last years point total already), yet sadly we are out of Europe. All we have this year is to beat Manure to second place (and I still think we can do it) and/or to win the FA cup.

This year is our year in the FA cup, as I think that Chelsea look to be slipping in form, and frankly we have something to prove should we play them. Birmingham however is first and although they play better at home they are in a relegation battle and the FA cup may be the least of their worries.

Should we win the FA cup this year, it would still make it a great season.

I would love for us to win the FA Cup but you can never predict how FA cup matches are going to go.

Usually the teams are 100% up for it but i do agree were in much better form than we were last season. Just need to keep scoring the goals.

Birmingham need to concentrate on staying in the prem never mind winning cups.  I think we'll beat them comfortably.  We've out-played them twice this season and not won and in fact isn't Birmingham the only current Premiership team Benitez has not won against?  Their luck is bound to run out, we're due a win against them.

I think Birmingham are going to be right up for this they came to Anfield with all the pressure of there relegation battle and managed a fortunate 1-1.
This is a game of no pressure for them as in there eyes they have had a good run in the cup no matter what.
Our expectation is somewhat different as nothing less than the Final against Chelski will do. Heavy legs means a draw a
1-1 after 90 minutes for me.:( With a dramatic moment somewhere along the line.

slip in form? er no. as much as i would like the chavs to slip... they're not slipping. They lost yesterday but have won 3 of last 4 league matches... thats not a slip in form.

Anyway back to the topic. why we play on sunday then tuesday is beyond me.... why not saturday then tuesday or sunday then wednesday?? 2 games in 48 hours is harsh. Finnan will be back, alonso in the starting lineup. Garcia to start & other changes depends on tiredness.

Think it will be a tight, close game with 1 goal in it. A proper cuptie... 2-1

Rafa will rest alot of people as 2 games in to days is alot to maintain.

                      reina
finnan      carra    agger   traore(please rafa no)

kronkamp    alonso  hamman     warnock

                 nando fowler

kewell is looking tired for the first time in ages, cissie wasn't good enough, JAR isn't fit ,garcia could play left but warnock is better cover for basket balls answer to defending.

Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Forgot about Fowlers cup-tied.  Not really keen on the Nando & crouch pairing.  The two together just dont do it.

Finnan  Carragher  Hyypia  Traore

Garcia  Gerrard  Alonso  Kewell

          Crouch  Morientes

SUBS: Dudek, Warnock, Agger, Hamann, Cisse.
