LIVERPOOL vs CHELSEA - CL SEMI-FINAL 2ND LEG, BABY!!!!

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

It'll be interesting to see who Rafa plays in the centre alongside Alonso in these games, assuming that Gerrard will revert back to the right hand side.

I reckon we should play Mascherano at Anfield. We are a better attacking team with him in the side, and he's also very good defensively.

At the Bridge, play Sissoko. Good, hard tackler who gets stuck in. Lampard, Ballack etc. all like time on the ball. They won't get as much time if Sissoko is playing.

I'd play five in midfield with Crouch upfront for the first leg and depending on the result their I'd play to suit.

Like this : Kewell wont be fit will he ?

                     Reina

    Finnan   Agger  Carra  Arbeloa

               Mascha  Alonso

   Pennant      Gerrard     Riise

                    Crouch

I'd probably opt for something like that at the their place.

Personally i dont like it when Rafa makes statements like he did. Although its good he has confidence (rightly we should) I think we should go in as the underdogs. The last time Rafa made such bold statements we got beat 4-1 at home by them.

Its going to be a tough game indeed but the fact that we are only focused on this and they are focused on the league and fa cup still says we can seriously have a physical and psychological edge over them.

I'd do the opposite.

Mascheranois one yellow away from a ban, if he got that at Anfield he'd miss the final.

Momo would break up the play at Stamford Bridge - ala Barca

-------------------Reina----------------------

Finnan        Carragher    Agger          Riise

Pennant      Mascherano Sissoko       Gerrard
                         Alonso                    /
                                                    /

                         Crouch

Could be something like that. Solid as F.uck.

First of all, let's get this "goal that never was" bullsh*t out of the way. It happened in the 4th minute of the game. The only time Chelsea looked even remotely threatening over the two legs was in the last 10 seconds of the tie, and they fluffed the chance. If an iffy goal had gone in in injury time, I could understand the constant references, but they had 180 minutes to make something happen and they failed to do so. End of.

As for this time around, I am oddly calm about facing them. I wouldn't go so far as to say we have their number, but I'd definitely much rather have them than Man U or Milan in the semis. If we do them again, we'll never hear a peep about any balls failing to cross the line 2 years ago, I assure you.

The Kewell factor does really intrigue me. Logically you'd say he wouldn't be ready, but when I think about how he absolutely slaughtered them down the left in the FA Cup last year... if he had any fitness about him it may be interesting.

On the central mid front, I'd personally have Mascherano in the middle both legs. The guy is clearly something special, and I reckon he and Alonso would tackle and pass fat Frank and co to death. Pennant's coming into some form, but unless we play a 5 across the middle with Crouch up top, he'd have to make way for Stevie out there on the right.

So yeah - bring it on. Would be nice to see a flowing match between the two sides, but a scrappy 1-0 at the Bridge would definitely go down a treat with me.

Can't wait. :D

Quick question though - anyone know which leg ITV have live?

Chelsea v Liverpool is on a wednesday so it must be the second leg at anfield mate.

Good times.....Good times :D

I'd much rather be the underdog for this one and I'm happy to support chelsea in their other competitons to give us a physical edge for the semis

Well said Ivor....screw this did it go in :censored:, cos this time it fricking well will!

that's what gets my goat aswell. they bleat on about losing to "a goal that wasn't" when the only reason they even got to the semi in the first place was due to "a goal that wasn't" when ricardo carvalho literally manhandled victor valdes for their winning goal against barca.

at the end of the day, they had one shot on target in 180 minutes against us in that tie, and the "tactical genius" that is maureen resorted to throwing a centre back upfront and hitting long balls for the last 10 minutes.

so i guess the premiership really is the best league in europe then at the moment, considering the last 3 years.....

going back to the topic im not sure who i want in the middle for the away leg. id like momo there but id like to see stevieg in there too, and they dont generally play well together....guess he can go on the right, but with masch's good performances lately and i thought alonso played reasonably well yesterday too it'd be hard to choose between them also..

good thing im not in rafa's position :D

Whether the ball crossed the line or not (it did like) Cech should have been sent off and we should have had a pen.
Everyone apart from Liverpool fans seems to forget that.
