These two games have me sh1t-scared....If laswt night's drole performance is anything to go by. I had to switch onto the Bayern Munich - AC Milan game, I was that bored.....Poor ol' RF - he was muck; Pennant was muck; Sissoko couldn't pass a ball; Zenden couldn't cross it....and before anyone says it was all over before the match even started in Anfield, give me a break.....40K+ paying fans packed in to Anfield to see that ? Man, what a waste of money.....There was nothing in that performance to cause Maureeno or Ferguson to raise an eyebrow. Much as I hate to say it, watching Alan Smith the other night showed the hunger that is missing in LFC right now, and what is needed to get Cup #6 in the cabinet

I think these two games will be very close. I know we beat them well at home but these cup games have a tendancy to level teams out a bit. We will know what we need from the Stamford Bridge game. I think we could sneek a 1-0 at theirs and then the pressure will really be on them at Anfield. The thing is though Mourinho is always able to get them to perform in the big cup games and they would come to anfield and play well. These are cup games and they will not be as easy as when we played them in the league. I think we can do them though they are not the team of 2 years or even a year ago.

I think it was the perfect game for us. No yellows no injuries to first team players. Rafa would be pleased i would think. There was never any danger. I'm afraid the people who went should have realised that the game was not going to be a high octane spectacle. Man U can play great at home but its their away form that could slip them up. They play the first leg of the next match at home. Milan will be looking to slow it down and make it tight. They have the players with the experience to do it. Then United have to go to the San siro. Lets face it their away form in Europe isn't great and if they have a bit of pressure on them they could fall.

Im quietly confident but in reality id say the odds are stacked a very firm 50/50!
If we get a score draw or win at Stamford Bridge(which we are capable of) they will be shi.tting bricks coming to Anfield and the game will be ours to win or loose.

I cant believe some people saying they are not worried about this tie..Its our biggest game since the final in Istanbul 2 years ago.Im shitting myself and have butterflies thinking about it..If you are not nervous or even worried about facing one of our biggest rivals in the Semis of the C/L when exactly do you get nervous?

The first leg is crucial and i dont care what their fans say..i would much rather play away 1st and bring the second leg home..we can beat anyone at Anfield, any team in the world!

The one big advantage we have is Raffa can still keep some players fresh. We have less games to play as they are in cup. Also Mourinhio cant really afford to rest players as he is in a dogfight with UTD for top spot in the league!

As for the other semi,i actually think Milan will knock UTD out..i really think the experience and European pedigree of Milan will shine through over 2 legs..i hope im right!

Whatever way we look at it now from LFC's point of veiw we have 3 games left if we are lucky and every game has a massive rivalry or even grudge, whoever we play will be looking revenge or to get one over for more reasons than footballing glory!

You just couldnt write the stuff football throws at you!

Bring them on! :buttrock

Rafas Come Out Fighting.....

From BBC....

Benitez responds to Mourinho jibe
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez and Chelsea counterpart Jose Mourinho
Benitez  and Mourinho have a frosty relationship
Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has cranked up the war of words with Chelsea counterpart Jose Mourinho ahead of their Champions League semi-final.

Mourinho has already claimed Liverpool will be favourites as they are only challenging for the Champions League.

But Benitez said: "We were good friends until we started winning, then he started changing his mind.

"It's the same with the managers of the top sides. He has good relationships with managers of teams he beats."

He added: "He fights with the managers of the top sides. He has already started it with us, yesterday!"

Chelsea beat Benitez's former side Valencia on Tuesday in dramatic fashion to set up a rematch of the infamous Champions League semi-final of 2005 when Liverpool went on to win the tournament.

Chelsea are a very good team - in the last five years they have spent big money on players

The Reds beat Chelsea courtesy of a goal from Luis Garcia, which the Blues argue did not fully cross the line.

But Mourinho insisted after the win in Valencia that revenge will not be his motive as he aims to steer Chelsea to a historic Quadruple.

"Revenge is not for me in football or life," said Mourinho, whose side will be at home for the first leg on 25 May.

"It is a tie where we know we start from behind and why is simple: Liverpool play only in the Champions League and Chelsea plays in the Champions League, Premiership and FA Cup.

"And we have players suspended and on yellow cards. Liverpool is in a very clean situation so I think they start in front of us."

Benitez answered Mourinho's taunts by citing the money that his rival has had available to lavish on his Stamford Bridge squad.

"Always as a manager you must be confident your team can win, and any Liverpool team will always be confident," said the Spaniard.

Luis Garcia scores the goal which proved the winner in Liverpool's Champions League semi-final against Chelsea in 2005
Did it or did it not cross the line?

"But we know Chelsea are a very good team, in the last five years they have spent big money on players and they have a very good squad.

"They will be tough. They have spent money for five years, they are in other semi-finals and chasing trophies, that is what they want and have prepared for.

"Yes we only have one trophy to go for, but they would not want to change what they are doing now."

Benitez also hopes it will be an advantage to play the second leg at Anfield in a repeat of the semi-final between the pair two years ago.

Benitez said: "They may not accept what happened here two years ago, but they cannot change things now.

"We are pleased we will play the second-leg at Anfield. If we can do something at Stamford Bridge, maybe we will then have the advantage.

"They know that. But playing counter-attack like they did in Valencia shows how dangerous they are in away games.

"Chelsea know us and we know them very well."

Two quotes from Mourinho:

1st - April 2005 "What is this about the Anfield crowd? When have you
heard of the crowd scoring a goal?

2nd - 9th Apr 2007 - The only time I know of a crowd scoring a goal was
at Liverpool in 2005"
( The Guardian)

Matt McQueen - Liverpool 1892-1928.
Only professional to - play in goal (41 appearances), Defence, Midfield, Striker, and later be Director and then to be Manager (winning a Championship) - at one club

I dont want to be overly confident because that could jynx us. I think its vital we have Gerrard in the centre midfeild position for both games possibly along side Mascharano. Kewell will be back for this tie but would he have had alot of match practice to be risked. Agger and Carragher have been solid at the back the whole season and i think these 2 will be the best pairing for the chelsea game. Finnan has been immense all season a pretty much owns that position. Riise again always consistant and no point dropping him for this game. I think the real debate should be who starts this game upfront. Crouch who has been on form as of late will look to be a starter but kuyt is a real worker knows where trhe net is aswell which would be my choice on the forward line

Reina

Finnan
Carragher
Agger
Riise

Pennant
Gerrard
Mascharano
Kewell/ Gonzales

Crouch
Kuyt

for me if we're talking about line-ups already (which is kinda dangerous as you never know with injuries) but at the bridge, I'd play the same line up as against Barca away. It worked so well, and isn't far off our strongest 11 any way.

I do think all this media w@nkfest over Manure and the Chavs is good for us. I'll happily be the underdog in the media's eyes and let the pressure build on them only for us to spoil the party in athens. Its been said before and it remains true. Nobody wants to face us in Europe.

We are in the semi final of the Champions League for the second time in three seasons, bad teams dont do that!

They should be fearful of us!!

If you supported United (god forbid) who would you prefer in the final??

(That is if they get there, Milan is a tough tough game for them

Its not a fear of Man UTD as such, in footballing terms, but a fear of having to face UTD fans if they were to beat us in Athens.  :lookaround

I would say that we feel the same about this as you's.

You's will beat Chelsea by the way, as much as it hurts me too say  it.
