Just got home from another classic European night on the KOP and what a night it proved to be.

I've said on here before that when the KOP turn up the volume the Liverpool players rarely disappoint and tonight was no exception. George (the PA announcer) said at half time that he thought it was louder than the Chelsea Semi Final in 2005. Now I'm not so sure as that night was off the richter scale but the atmosphere tonight was very very special and I've no doubt we lifted the team.

Rafa got his tactics spot on and we unlucky not to win the game convincingly. Thats consecutive games now where we have toiled and won the battles only to lose the game. Barca showed in the later stages just why their the present European champions and at times their movement was breathtaking but in Carra and Agger we have 2 defenders who don't know when to give up. Both were exceptional tonight as were most of the players.

I think we all know that we lack a prolific goalscorer. One shudders to think what a player like Shearer of old or someone like Villa in the modern game would produce in a team such as Liverpool

However in 2005 we won the CL without an out and out 20 goals a season man up front and theres no reason why we can't go on and win it again. Over 2 legs we can beat any of the teams left in it mainly because of our extrodinary will to win and tenacity.

Athens in May anyone ?

Just got in, saw the result and am absolutely over the moon. I guess I missed all the heart-in-mouth stuff in the second half, as I only could catch the first half. We should have been at least a goal to the good at half time and I'm just relieved that it wasn't a portent of doom that we weren't.

just got back from the game i cant talk ive lost my voice that was the best night in ages proud even more to be a red athens is on baby (just got to tell the wife the conservetory is on hold)

We should have been up 3-0 at half time, and added another couple in the 2nd.

This team is a great Champions league team.

I'm waiting to see what those proclaiming Barcelona were going to come over and boss us on our own turf are going to say.

All the press in Spain is impressed of LFC, more in Madrid than in Barcelona as you could expect, but both cities' press admits that Barcelona was eliminated by a great club.

while what Dalglish says is true, that is, we'd be even better with a world class striker, I think that we have grown as a team a lot in the last two years as some members of this forum already noticed. The future is bright, the future is red.

Overall a measured team performance and we should have won by a couple of goals. Our strikers left their shooting boots at home and should have scored with the clear cut chances we had.

I had a nervy last 15 mins as Barca scored and needed only just another goal to win the tie.

It matters not how we advance, as long as we advance and we clearly deserved to win the tie.

Momo received 2 yellows and will miss the next game.

carra agger finnan i thought were immense. Alonso tactically spot on. Gerrard risse kuyt worked very hard. Bellamy is a pain in the neck.He was great. Sissoko worked hard but tackling and distribution were poor.

Pennamt will never cut it at liverpool i think he has blown his last chance at a big club. Don't think he ever wanted it anyhow. Just a typical bling bling cockney.

Rafa is the best tactically he europe. Just need a eto'o or villa or owen and we'd win games comfortably.

Brilliant no nails left. Bring on roma in next round.

Rikjaard was great in defeat said they never deserved it. Gracias Senor Rikjaard.

I'd love to but 23rd of May is salp bang in the middle of my exams, just like it was in 2005.

If we get there it looks like I'll be missing out again
