Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby RUSHIE#9 » Tue Mar 06, 2007 11:19 pm

It's great to be through and especially against one of the most formidable attacking teams in europe (even if they are playing cr@p at the moment) but again we so nearly shot ourselves in the foot. We had 9 shots on goal before they'd even registered one and we had nothing to show for it. I don't want to put a downer on the celebrations (and I won't - there's plenty of time for that tomorrow :D ) so lets enjoy tonight and start the inquest into our scoring problems in the morning.

6 TIMES ANYONE? :D

Momo, Riise and Kuyt especially as they had run their socks off.Momo should have come off before Bellamy as he was struggling and Mascherano would have been perfect to fill in. Bringing Pennant on allowed Gerrard to move into the middle but with players tiring we needed another outlet once Bellamy had gone.

I thought Alonso, Carra and Finnan were outstanding tonight, Gerrard was a bit below par but became our only real threat second half.

Great to progress but I am a little upset that we have played great the last couple of games and lost, without getting the goals and results our play warrented.

agree. It is quite worrying that. i know we have a whole thread devoted to 'Are our strikers good enough?' - but still. We can win the odd game. but we wont will a thing if we dont put our chances away consistantly.

a few observations....

carra: the man can do no wrong, absolute legend
kuyt: had a great game, worked his nuts off as ever
agger: simply brilliant, already stepping up to the plate as a successor to sami
gerrard: exhuded energy all over the place, just wished he'd played in the centre
joe bloggs: converted all three of his chances with great skill, burying barcelona

anyone like to guess where we're missing somebody in our team?

Fantastic evening.

Great team performance and everyone worked so hard, especially Kuyt. Carragher and Agger were exceptional and yet again Stevie Finnan was excellent. He gave Carragher a run for his money over the two legs as our best player in my opinion.

Im gonna give myself a bit pat on the back for my team selection tonight. Well Done Rafa

Y E S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great performance......shame we didn't finish our chances.....but brilliant nevertheless.

Was REALLY worried after Gudjohnsen scored.....was nervewracking and then those last 3 mins....NO!!

But we held on....through the sheer brilliance and hard work of Cara (yet again) and Finnan, who I thought did a tremendous job.

Was worried about the subs and hoped it wouldn't mess things up, which it didn't. Though I don't like to see Kuyt go off at the best of times.

Shame about Crouch's miss....can smile about it now (I suppose!)...just glad we weren't depending on it.

But well done boys!!!! Oh and the singing from the kop was glorious!!!  :)  :)  :)
