twice in a few days rafa has brought bellamy off early taking away our momentum and giving it to the opposition.

we need the pace on there to make the other team have to sit deeper. if he wants to go to 451 then take kuyt off and keep the paceup front to make them wary about venturing too far forward

Superb result overall.

Unfortunate with Riise and Sissoko's shots.

I was worried that we were taking our chances again.

Anxious last fifteen minutes.

Great night.

Yeh but Bellamy is a man not a robot, he made an incredible physical effort -just like kuyt tbh- the replacement was more due to Bellamy not having strenght left, rather than tactical decission IMHO.

prediction for last 8:

us
chelski
valencia
roma
ac milan
arsenal
bayern
man u

out of those, i'd say ac milan would be easiest to turn over

again!

Great performance and great result overall. Anyone else notice Rafas, real madrid tie? little dig for the catalan press maybe? anyhow, well done lads, bring on whoever (bound to be valencia at some point, take that as the final after knocking out chelsea and manure in the next two rounds, best way to win number six)

Great night, but yet again we are given clear evidence that the strikers are not good enough.

Hey everybody! From Logroño ( SPAIN ) i want to give you congratulations by your right victory. All Spain has seen on TV and the stadium that you are a wonderful people. Good luck and if the Spanish teams (Valencia and R.Madrid) is eliminated in the Champion League, we will animate to the Liverpool. :)

I would agree with you on that, but replace bellamy with pennant? And pennant gave them the only goal of the match. We should've won the game or at least get a draw. yes, i'm happy we're through but the i just can't accept the fact that we got more shots, chances...but we just can't score. And just like the game against Manure, we controlled the game, we were the better team but still we concede and we lose. Lucky for us we got an advantage for away goals.

Yes, i'm very happy we're through to the Quarter finals, great performance from the lads, but failing to score goals for the last 180 minutes while having loads of chances  against  good teams.....that got me worried.

Thanks mate. Valencia did go through though, if they're not punnished for what has happened there.

Nice town Logroño, part of my family is from Nalda, a small village near you.

BTW, Online spanish-english translator:

animate=support
right=deserved  :)

I do have to translate some of the stuff is being written in the Spanish press, mates. It's making me feel proud of LFC. Everybody, every commentator, every journo is commenting Carra's greatness, the impressive atmosphere, FFS a radio commentator just said Riise was world class and that devastated Barcelona :D

Gerrard, Carra, Kuyt (the 2 coachs that were commenting the game, Bakero and Laudrup both said that he's done a great job) and Alonso are receiving most of the praises here, alongside Rafa, who tought Rijkaard a lesson.

The pundits were amazed of the solidarity of LFC midfielders. "Look how Gerrard helps always the RB, and Riise is always helping the LB, they're always 2 against one, that's what defending is about" they said.

Proud.

I would agree with you on that, but replace bellamy with pennant? And pennant gave them the only goal of the match.

I cannot argue that Pennant lost some balls. But then when he got out I thought the decission was spot on. Pennant had almost all the right wing for him, he is the kind of player that runs with the ball and oposition makes a foul to him (thus allowing the team to go up and give some rest to the pressure)... if I have to be honest I thought it was a good sub.

Riise also made a terrible effort physically and that sub was also spot on, imho.

As great as this performance was I am starting to get really concerned at our lack of goals. Against Man Utd and Barcelona we dominated them and made two title challenging teams look really weak but lost both games 0-1 at Anfield.
Our performances are world class, our finishing is poor at best. Lets spend the next few days concentrating on putting the ball in the back of the net in training, lets get the last part of our game right THIS season so we can win our 19th next season.

Not bothered reading this thread yet.  I'm sure it's all celebrate good time come on....

Are people complaining?  I hope to God not...

Last season when Benfica beat us in the first leg, I was told the day after (I had to be told, I was near comatose...) that me and my mate had drank 46 cans of lager and three bottles of wine between the two of us.  (I'd drank eight pints of lager before I got to his house to see us lose 1-0 that night.)

Never made it to work the next day by the way.  No bullshit.  We did that.  Was a mad night.  I've probably documented it in the archives of his forum.  Was a sick episode that one.  European nights are just INCREDIBLE as a Liverpool fan, that's all.

Tonight, watched Barca.  Been with the same lad, my mate, a year later.  Spent a few quid in the pubs tonight all evening round Liverpool rather than sit in his gaff drinking ourselves stupid this time.  I think we're saving our sick piss up for the Cup Final this year.  We're already talking about Athens.  Mad thing is, we've already got a sly trip booked to another country and we're tempting fate talking about cancelling...

Do Liverpool EVER do anything comfortably?  If it's not a 5-4 in Dortmund, or a penalty shoot-out in Istanbul to win the biggest Continental competition in the world, or then another penalty shoot-out to win the most famous Cup competition in the world, we have to dominate a game against the current European champions, but then let a former Chelsea enemy shine a sly ray of light for fifteen minutes to make our hearts beat a little bit faster, before we run the game down and actually show a bit of tactical nous and show the boys from Barca why Liverpool are so special!!!

The mad thing is, we owe every other team left in the competition either a replay, a rematch, or a test, or just a chance to show they've got what it takes to play on the same park in the same the same 90 minutes as Liverpool.

For what it's worth.  I'll say it now.  I've nothing to be frightened about.

Bring on Manchester United, Valencia or Roma in the next round.  Please.

They're probably more scared of us.  What opposition team would seriously want to visit Anfield on a Tuesday or Wednesday kick-off 19:45pm?

We know it more than anyone, to win the competition, YOU HAVE TO BEAT THE BEST!

We'll get Valencia.

They beat Inter Milan over two legs and also won the post-match fight by unanimous decision.

And after tonights little 'disagreement' a nice little by into the semi's could be in the offing for Valencia's next opponents.
That is assuming UEFA finally show they've got some bollocks hidden away in a cupboard somewhere.  :)

Bang on their Sabre mate he was dead on his feet the ball wasnt stickin up front and was coming straight back, if Barca had our organisation and work ethic however they would be unstoperble that is what sets us apart from every other team left in and that along with a bit of luck that was missing tonight ( and thats all it was bad luck ) and no.6 is on its way!
I think the posters moaning about our forwards need to bare in mind most of the chances and shots were by Riise and Gerrard and one off the bar from Momo, in any case Ronaldfatso missed a couple one of them a total sitter does that mean he`s not good enough, get a grip as JC said we were playing agaist the best team in the world, and guess what we won chear the f.uck up we are alot better up front now than in 05.
