BARCELONA 1-2 LIVERPOOL - ALL REACTION HERE......

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

AB, I have a close friend who a Barsa fan, knows lots of football, and watches Bojan closely. He makes the following points:

* The video you put is old, it's about when he was 14, now he's stronger as you say, and he's about 15.

* The video is misleading, because he thinks one of the best features of Bojan is that is not individualist at all, his team work is excellent, and he's not selfish. Clever player

* He is growing a lot not, right now, he's exactly 1.75 m tall.

* My friend says, Dos Santos' Ego is too big and we would make a mistake if we got him. The real treasure is Bojan.

* He also points out that Bojan is as Spanish as the Paella, his mother is Spanish, and he's lived in Spain always.

* He thinks that this year is impossible the jump to the first team, next year he might have the first minutes if everything goes right.

* He thinks he can be a great player in the future, the best of Spain maybe. He's like a Villa that have better dribbling, same good finishing, and he covers more pitch.

I rate my friend's opinions a lot. I must say though that all this videos are misleading. I have seen quite many youngsters playing and I've seen lads making marvellous things in lower categories and then didn't make it. But for what my friend says, he's sheer class.

My friend points out that making dribblings in the category the video shows is easy (that was my point) but apparently he's impressing in a physical, butcher league like the Spanish Segunda B. (The Spanish Segunda and lower is not skill and technique, but strenght and physical game)

Dos Santos will be given some playing time this year, if not I am sure he will start looking around for first team action.  It was rumoured that Lyon nearly snared him in the Jan window.

From what I have seen of him, which is only the U17 WC, a couple of pre-season games and some B-Team action, he looks very like Ronaldinho in his style of play.  He can play on either flank and has an almost telepathic understanding with Bojan.  Like most other Cules, I am dying to see him get more first team actions.

This is his goal on his debut for Barca: What do you think?

Barcelona star Ronaldinho believes Liverpool are good enough to win the Champions League again this season.
Barcelona entertain Rafael Benitez's men in the first leg of the last sixteen clash next week and while the La Liga side are favourites to progress, their Brazilian superstar is taking nothing for granted against a team he rates highly.

"Liverpool won the European Cup two years ago so we know it could go either way," he said.

"I think we'll have to be at our very best to make it through to the last eight.

"Liverpool's incredible win in 2005 was amazing and an achievement we must be aware of.

"We have to learn from what happened to Milan. It would be a mistake not to consider Liverpool as one of the favourites to win this season's Champions League.

"Not only have they already won it, they have a team capable of doing it again.

"But we are a force in this competition and have an obligation to show them our quality too."

He added: "We know all about Liverpool. Steven Gerrard is a brilliant midfield player with a lot of force and Xabi Alonso complements him perfectly.

"They have a good passing range and we have to be very careful they don't release their strikers too much. The likes of Dirk Kuyt and Peter Crouch are dangerous.

"The core of Liverpool's side is of a very high standard. They can hurt us on the break so we must not neglect that threat.

"The hour of truth has arrived and we fully expect to reach the heights we are capable of reaching.

"Winning the first leg is important to us. We must make home advantage count because we are going to suffer at Anfield if we are not in front.

"I think we are good enough to win both legs. We have confidence in ourselves and believe we can repeat last season and end the year as Champions League winners again."

love that quote in bold

That bold quote is a Spanish Expression you use when you show respect to the rival. That respect can be seen in all his quotes, as well, which is nice.

He added: "We know all about Liverpool. Steven Gerrard is a brilliant midfield player with a lot of force and Xabi Alonso complements him perfectly.

But if that's all that they know about Liverpool, they're wrong. LFC is more than that partnership.

What a stupid question. We're talking about footie here. We've been talking about Barcelona and Liverpool youth systems, and set some examples of good youth system work in the case of Bojan or Dos Santos, both Barcelona players, and relevant in this thread.

So your question hasn't got anything to do with the thread, it's a lack of respect towards others, and doesn't add anything valuable.

Latest developments in the Barcelona camp:

Messi: "Against Valencia I'll be match fit, and against Liverpool I'll be even better".

Rijkaard is doubting about including Eto'o in the game against Valencia. Eto'o is not at 100% of his fitness. But the Surgeon that made surgery on him suggested from the United States that the best way to recover Eto'o fast is giving his matches. Rijkaard has the dillema of picking a fitter player or Eto'o. If he doesn't call Eto'o the especulation of the Entorno will say it's some sort of punnishment for his rants.

All in all Barcelona has a key game against Valencia, which benefits Liverpool. Barcelona on the past have rotated much before European games, but they can't afford that against Valencia. Plus, the injuries of Messi , and Eto'o made clear that their squad is not that deep.

Lets hope Valencia hammer Barca later and shatter their confidence...or what little confidence they have! :D
