I've already said its about desire, practice and approach.

Then theres coaching.

Natural ability doesn't exist.

Stu you are always going on about coaching Whiston juniors, so am I to presume that every kid who comes to play for you is at the same level, and when you have finished coaching them they are all equally as good as each other.

If that was the case then the youth system at the academy would yeild each and every year 10-15 star players the same level as Owen, Gerrard, Fowler, Mcmanaman and Carragher, rather than one or two every other year.

Think about what you are saying Stu.

Utter tosh.

2)He is committed to everything that he does; tackling, passing, harassing etc

If only the rest of the team performs as much whole-heartedly as SG, he need not work so hard to win. The rest of the team can really lighten his burden by playing as hard.

How you guys think?

so tell us somethin we dont know

I don't believe in it, everything in life depends on everything.

Prove it exists.... The fact is as i said its a myth. I'm perfectly entitled to believe it doesn't exist until someone proves it does.

Your point on Zidane...

People can't teach that... someone obviously taught him. You think he just kicked a ball one day and become as good as he was?

Or do think endless practice and the need to self improve fed that determination to be able to do what he can do?

If you take take two kids. From different families, they have EXACTLY the same upbirning, the same food, at the same times, the same things said to them.... i'm on about EXACTLY the same life... every little detail being the same... do you think they'd turn out to be totally different people? I don't.

Thats why i don't believe in natural ability.

David Beckham is a good example, his free kicks. Its not natural, its practice and the need to better yourself.

The same with keepy ups as your're growin older.

The only difference is the people with the greater need to improve will improve further. If you look at most of these footballers... well we'll take Owen... good at snooker, Golf, was probably the fastest runner in school... was good academically etc etc. Then you look at Henry, same again, another intelligent guy with burning desire to improve.

Leon, i'm generally not trying to disagree. I just have my own opinions on things and am very set in what i believe. I don't have opinions on things i know nothing about!! Simple as that. :)

For someone who knows fk all about genetics you have one hell of an opinion .  :D
To agree with your view that anybody in the whole wide world could with the right coaching ,desire, practice and approach become a Zidane or Maradonna etc etc is absolute boll*cks.
How come all athletes in this modern era of top class coaching in all aspects of their profession, training, diet, attitude, desire etc etc etc how come they don't all run at exactly the same speed ,jump at exactly the same height, punch at exactly the same velocity ???? ???? ????
Bottom line sunshine , you're full of it.

I've already covered that if you'd care to have read.

If a player has the desire to improve and the self motivation to improve they can do anything. Its all down to diet, growth, attitude etc etc etc.

Myself as an example, i'm a good footballer, i used to do keepy ups every day. when i was a kid i struggled to get past 7, but i kept working at it. by the time i was 16 i could get into the thousands. ever since then i've never tried to improve. I was satisfied with my level, and lost that desire to do them. if players have a burning desire to improve themselves then they can do it. As a kid i had the desire to get to a level doing keepy ups, then i lost it.

As i already said, different people have different levels of desire and motivation. hence the reason no two people are the same.

Look at the arsenal players technique aswell, they all have a similar stance when controlling passes and playing the ball. Thats down to coaching.

as i said, 60% is down to the individual, 20% down to growth 20% down to coaching. Infact being honest, phyiscally you can develope yourself so maybe thats only 10%.

Natural ability is an excuse as i've said. Prove it exists.

Gerrard is the best midfielder this country has produced in many years. i'll tell you why.

STRENGHTS: Where to begin? Where do they end? Great stamina, wonderful vision, cracking shot, awesome pace, superb tackler, total dedication and whole-hearted competitor. Just the perfect modern footballer, and getting better all the time. One aspect we're missing out on: on reviewing recent season videos, I noticed how many goals he headed from Gary Mac's free-kicks and corners before Gerrard started taking them himself; with his height and ability in the air, we could do with finding someone else to take them as well as he does (which Danny Murphy started doing, but was left out for Diouf for much of the season). Thrived under the pressure of being Liverpool captain - amazing for one so young.

WEAKNESSES: Um... Um... Left foot isn't the greatest. Used to be guilty of rash - and often ugly - tackles, but only got two bookings, and only one of those was for a foul.

VERDICT: The most complete footballer ever to play for Liverpool; not quite up to Dalglish's standards as the best-ever, but able to do more things well than even King Kenny; just doesn't have the experience yet. Never has a Liverpool player played so much better than his teammates during a season; others contributed, but Gerrard was carrying the team for much of it. He is the kind of player you build your side around. It's just a shame as we can't clone him, as he is a wonderful full-back and right-sided midfielder too. Thankfully he wants to achieve success at Liverpool and like Michael Owen, will only look elsewhere as a final measure.

GOD BLESS YOU STEVEN GERRARD!

Amen
