Crouch is about Ameobi's standard I would say.

i cant see this ever being settled, lets face it we all have our varied views on each player we have, and can all talk up or down their attributes as we see them.So there is very little point this argument carrying on really.

He is a better footballer than some credit him, and is always a handful for any defender to cope with.
He will never be amongst my favourite players but he is effective, scores and creates goals for those around him and works hard. I dont expect him to play every game that he is available for now Kuyt has arrived , but I expect he will play a significant part in our successful EPL title win this season.
Peter Crouch un-dropable no - Peter Crouch great asset to the team yes.

Agreed... he's gonna be an important weapon for us this season...

TBH, I'm was mortified when we purchased him but glad to say he's proved me wrong.... Contribution last year was excellent, even when he was going through that drought.....

Just hope that someone tells Sammi not to keep chucking the ball upwards to him and bypass the midfield... Noticed that this happens a fair bit whenever Crouch is playing.... Makes us too predictable... Need to get back to our famed passing game of the bygone era....

The lad's pretty handy on the ground.... Maybe time to put Kuyt and him in tandem upfront to see how it goes.... We'll lack pace but will make up for it in sheer size....  :D

Crouch will probably have outlived his usefulness by this time next year and will have been off-loaded in the Aug 07 window.
After watching the West Ham game I would suggest that Crouch and Bellamy will not make a dream partnership, Bellamy is far too mobile.
Crouch and Kuyt may have some mileage - let's see !!
Crouch and Fowler, maybe !
Crouch and little Lois, is probably the best bet and also the least likely combination to play many games together.
I feel that Peter will mainly be utilised in the second half sub' role this term.

It's been tried a couple of times and it doesn't look great, but then its not been tried and tested properly, so the juries out on this one.

Au contraire. I thought the Garcia-Crouch partnership looked promising.  If anything, it created chances against Maccabi Haifa--chances "little Lois" unfortunately spurned.  They had a great understanding for the goal on Saturday too.

Having said that, though, it is not a partnership I expect to see too often, TBH.  I really don't think Kuyt or Bellamy are destined to spend a lot of time on the bench this season and that means substitute appearances for both Crouch and Garcia in many games, with occasional starts for both as injuries/form/opposition dictates.

Again he wasnt exactly world class...but he put away 2 and nearly had his hat trick. I dont think he played one of his best games today, and i am realistic to know that he is not really the required standard for LFC or England, but at the end of the day as a replacement for Rooney and Owen he IS doing the business. He always looks a little uncomfortable but if anyone is honest he always does the business.
Against the major sides he might struggle, but in the games he has played he has been fantastic and deserves his place on merit.
