WOULD ANYBODY PUT THERE LIFE ON IT THAT WE WILL SIGN A RIGHT SIDED PLAYER...THIS IS NO LONGER FUNNY :angry:

I WOULDNT SAY THE ALVES DEAL IS DEAD, I BELIEVE ALVES WILL STILL JOIN LIVERPOOL, BUT HE WILL HAVE TO DEMAND THAT HE WANTS TO LEAVE SEVILLE ASAP... YOU CANT KEEP A PLAYER THAT NO LONGER WANTS TO PLAY FOR YOU...I STILL BELIEVE ALVES CAN CONTROL THIS DEAL...

Hope the alves deal does still go through but its looking very unlikely with the quiet surrounding the deal of late. Hopefully the deal is currently being agreed though and we will have him very soon. I really hope this doesnt fall through, i will be very gutted if we end up with pennant and kuyt instead of alves

Law of averages says Welsh Wizzard has to get something right soon, but signing Villa?? No chance. Maybe in the future, but he won't be leaving Valencia this summer I don't think and I doubt we have the cash for him right now either.

If the Alves deal is truly dead (which I don't believe - I still think Sevilla will crumble in the negotiations), then I think Benitez would snap up Pennant for half the price anyway - which I also wouldn't be against.

Echo says that we are hoping to get pennant for around 3.5mil coz for the price sevilla are asking for alves we could get two players apparently. I reckon rafa might be at his transfer tricks again, our interest in pennant may make sevilla more willing to sell coz they know rafa wont be fu.cked with

LIVERPOOL have not completely given up hope of signing Daniel Alves - although Rafael Benitez is prepared to turn to Jermaine Pennant should his patience finally run out.

Reports from Spain yesterday stated Liverpool have offered Sevilla £9.5million for Brazilian right-back Alves, a fee which would rise to almost £11m based on appearances and other bonus payments depending on the player's progress at Anfield.

It has been suggested the stumbling block is the mode of payment, with the Spaniards agreeing to the deal in principle but seeking a larger down payment.

Benitez remains keen on the player but is on the brink of pulling the plug on the deal, with pre-season starting on Monday and the Spaniard wanting time to work with his new signings.
