Maybe that's a small, understated goal but with this victory we have signalled our arrival on the world stage of football ad this is what it's all about for us Aussies. Onward and upward from here!!!

IMO it was a goal, but it didn't matter in the end anyway.

Thanks for your opinion LFC#1. Personally I think you are wrong on two counts;
1. It most certainly WILL matter if it comes down to goal differences on who qualifies and who doesn't for the next round. I'd be really p*ssed off if that one goal prevented Australia from advancing.
2. The keeper was impeded (perhaps unintentionally) and therefore prevented (by foul means), from getting to the ball. The correct decision is an indirect free kick to Australia. Even the referee himself has conceded this. What more do you need?

To go on even more, the foul should have warranted a card. Which should have been Cahill's second. So, he shouldn't of even been on the pitch to score his second.
I think it's ridiculous for any of you Aussies to complain about the referee hurting your chances a bit in any way because of a mistake of his, and say what should have been done. The Japanese have more to complain about, in my opinion.
