Why not buy him cheap and use him as a spare right winger/striker?

You could say I hold a grudge but lets not forget Saviola almost cos us Champs League last year when he was with Monaco. His own lil mini hand of god hand ball to score a goal. Had we got a point from that game Gerrards goal against Olympiacos wouldn't have been needed to get through.... But then again  it did add a little excitement to the game :P

Saviola was in much respects similar to our other Argentine wonderkid link Aguero. Back at River, he was labeled as the next Maradonna as all young Argentines are. My Argy mate said he was class back there, scoring for fun with fantastic ball control etc. He then went to Barca and flopped.

Accoring to my mate, he had more hype than Aguero is getting right now.

Like hell he'll be going to the World Cup. I, personally, dislike Perkerman but I hope he has enough sense to take players who actually deserve to go. Meaning Julio Cruz or/and Diego Milito ahead of the likes of Saviola. I'm sorry, but I just think he's over-rated and that his career has been going downhill for a while. He's not a bad player at all, but he's limited and never was or will be top class. A team like Sevilla is fine for him. They will probably work out a deal so he stays permanately. He'll probably end up costing less than 5 Million I would think, so in that sense...he might not be a bad shout for 3rd choice striker (Although, I think his wages would be a problem). But I would NEVER put any high goalscoring hopes or duties on his shoulders!

Anyway, a shout that someone mentioned and was ignored -Jefferson Farfan. I haven't seen him play much, but he's a definite talent and still young.  Again, wouldn't be my top, top choice  but would definitely be someone I wouldn't mind having in the squad. Definitely a better mention than Saviola. Didn't he score like 20 goals this past season?

You made your point mate, though rather aggressively.  :D You're not Argentinian by any chance? You sound rather interested in the Argentine squad.

But I still think Saviola will be going to the WC..thats a 70% possibility. Whether he's going downhill or not, I suppose someone like Sabre would be better posed to answer (a La Liga question).

I really didn't hold back much there, did I? :D To be honest, I just don't rate him as a top player. Many people hold another opinion, but I just don't see it. There are quite a few players I would look at before him..

No, I'm not Argentinian. I've been living in Argentina for a couple years now, though. So, I follow the national team and all. Anyway, he's going to Germany after all..

Well it looks like we will sign 2 strikers in the summer. I hope we sign 2 first team strikers.

We can forget about a title challenge if our first team striker force consists of 2 players coming from Crouch, Fowler, Morientes, Cisse, Defoe, Bent, or Bellamy.

Crouch and Defoe as a first team striker partnership for a title winning team?

Don’t make me laugh.

Dirk Kuyt better than all of them, Owens injuries will just get worst the older he gets and he is to far up Englands @rse anyway.
Kuyt can play on the right and as a striker two for the price of one and wont moan when he gets played out of position either.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Was flicking through the radio channels on my way back from work just now and ended up stopping on Classic FM as it was the sports news. the reporter claimed Jermaine Defoe was currently in talks with Liverpool and that a deal could be expected in a fortnights time. Seemed strange to hear that on Classic FM of all channels and not a mention of it anywhere else!

I'm tempted to agree with you on that.  I'd feel a lot better with something like Crouch, Fowler, Defoe/Bent/Bellamy at a decent price as backup plus a top player to be the main striker - and don't say Kuyt, the guy is never good enough - and not Owen, far too injury prone - personally I want Berbatov and I'll be raging if Spurs sign him as looks likely.

Crouch and Berbatov as 1st choice, Fowler and a decent (if not top class) proven premiership player as back-up.  Now that would be good enough to win the prem imo.  But I still think we will be lucky to manage to ship out both Cisse and Morientes this summer.  Ah well...

And is it just me or is anyone else pi.ssed off that all the talk is of us scrtambling to sign a player who hasn't even been good enough for a place in the Spurs team all season, while they go out and chase players like Berbatov?  What's that all about?
