Being at the game and seeing play
thats a tough question
To pick 1 player is cruel
Rush for me, no wait a minute, Dalglish, but what about the great dane. So Molby then.
re-think Aldridge
Final answer Hansen
Phone a friend - Gerrard is the answer
but the audience say- Carragher
So I'll go with them
Carragher it is
But I did like watching Ray Houghton.
I forgot Fowler, So Fowler it is
But wasn't Owen great
and Hyppia has does so much of recent
So Mcalister is my fav of all time then
Lawrenson was good at the back
and who could forget Nicol and whelan
But Rob Jones was solid

So to sum up

If I'm being honest... or just showing my age, I think the current team are not really fit to lace the boots of the teams of the late 70's and early 80's. So many of them players where the best in the world in their positions, which is why we won everything!!

The Dalglish and Rush partnership was just spine tingleing, you knew every game we where going to score goals.

Souness for me is the best Midfielder we have ever had, opposition players where afraid of him.

John Barnes, as already stated, was the best winger in the world when at Liverpool.

Alan Hanson, the most graceful defender with a ball at his feet I have ever seen.

Emlyn Hughes, fantastic energy, fantastic player... Liverpool through and through

Ray Clemence, possibly lucky to play behind the meanest defence in world football. but a great keeper in his own right.

So many greats that created the history that makes us Britains most succesful team ever.

Lets hope this new lot, grow into a great team and create some more history.

=1 Keegan, Dalglish, Heighway, Barnes, Rush, Fowler, Aldridge, Owen, Gerrard, Carragher, Kennedy, McDermot, McAllister, Clemence AND the legend that is Supersub, supersub, supersub - Jesus where do you stop? Oh and Jan Molby, Toshack, Tommy Smith, Hansen, Lawrenson, St John, Hyppia, Beardsley and the ones that never got the chance to show us their true stuff - Litmanen, Rob Jones.... oh and what about Crazy Horse (RIP), Phil Neal (isn't he our most decorated player?), Steve Nichol....

Definitely the hardest-to-answer topic on the board.

If pushed I can't separate the first three I mentioned

i'd have to say Souness was my favourite as my Dad used to take me to see them and loved his hard style of play- he did love himself a bit though!! (Sounes that is- not my Dad)

After that- it'd have to be Barnes- i remember him scoring by back-heeling a cross into the net- pure class.
Then God- the original spice boy! Followed by Gerrard and I'm sure they'll be many more in the next year as we're building a class squad!!

This is a tough one, for entertainment it was Bruce (his antics alone mad Liverpool worth watching), Jan Mobly was a midfield maestro Xabi reminds me so much of him minimal fuss but very effecive, Ian Rush because you always taught he was going to score regardless of the time left he always gave you hope, but i think being Jamaican i have to go with John Barnes, it was a dream come true when he moved to Liverpoool and two of my greatest memories are 1) him bringing an all-star (english league back then) team to Ja and meeting his dad as a school boy.

john barnes on the left wing from 88 to 90 is the best wing play i have ever seen,he used to embaress every right back he ever faced and his crossing was inch perfect and scored 15 to 20 goals a season as well

no doubt from 1986 to 1990 we would have won at least 3 european cups,only the AC milan " 88 and 89" european cup winners side of beresi gullit van basten and rikarrd would have given us a decent game

I know it's all about opinion, and Gary Mac made me happy on several occasions when he was with us, but PLEASE, let's not insult the season after season (and so on) brilliance and effort of dozens of Red Men who should come before him in this list. Gary Mac was with us very briefly.

And I think it's only fair that people try to consider players from different eras to their own .... I don't think Billy Liddel has been mentioned ... I know little about him as a player, but I do know he was regarded so highly within and beyond the Liverpool team that it became known as "Liddelpool".

I went to football's mecca for the first time in '77 and in the subsequent 28 years visits I've been lucky enough to see some amazing players, I have to say though the two that always managed to really take my breath away were firstly "the king" himself, Kenny and secondly the majestic John "digger" Barnes.

I will allways be thankful to them both for the years of entertainment!! :bowdown

There have been enough truly great LFC players to make up two world class squads

Its all about favourites and mine has to be King Kenny he had it all, but the same can be said of so many other LFC players
