As you can tell from my forum name and avatar it's Rushie who is my all time favourite player. My first clear footballing memory is as a 6 year old sitting in my grandad's house watching the '86 cup final and whilst 1-0 down thinking come on rushie get us a goal. Another outstanding memory from the game was brucie monkey bar swing from the cross bar after a lobbed shot went over.
I was totally devastated when Juve signed rush from us but was totally made up when i went to alan Hansens testimonial and he made a special appearence that night.

I think that in years to come the greatest lfc player will be stevie g 'cos i don't think that currently there hasn't been one single player that has been able to effect the clubs fortunes so much single handedly. However i think it's impossible for any one player to be declared our greatest as there have been so many that have brought something special to the club and helped LFC become the success story that it is.

Well my favourite is Sir John William Aldridge, because he awakened my love for Liverpool. I was just when about 300 Liverpudlians went to Nou Camp to support Real Sociedad in one of his first matches. We lost 3-2 I think, but Aldo scored, and they went nuts. All the cameras were on the crowd, for once, we had the best crowd we could imagine

Soon I realised why he was so loved. What a player. I must admit that I always hated Ian Rush a bit, because he was the one that sent Aldo to the bench, but then, I think I must be grateful now.

Toshack, then Rush, followed by Fowler, Barnes, Beardsley and Berger.

Currently, Alonso, Gerrard Carra and Hyypia. Favorite players at the moment.

It's such a hard question. The club will say Kenny Dalglish, and so who are we to argue with that? That's right, a bunch of argumentative bastids, so let's go.

My head tells me Dalglish, because he was the proper intelligent footballer ... never needed great pace or strength ... he used his brain. A brilliant passer of the ball. If he played for us NOW, he'd make passes to the front men others, except for perhaps Alonso or Garcia and definitely more regularly than they, won't see. He knew everything that was going on around him. He also did it for his country at the same time, scoring amazing goals on the biggest stage.

Fowler was great as long as it lasted. I don't think he fulfilled his potential though.

Rushie was a great finisher, but he was lucky to have King Kenny around.

My heart wants to say Stevie Gerrard... Incredibly fit, very quick, strong, great technique, determined as anything ... but actually, and I know this is heresy of the highest order .... I think he lacks a certain finesse that I think he may learn in time. I hope he stays forever more and becomes our greatest player ... after the Chelsea mess, theres nothing more I'd want for the lad. But after seeing Dalglish, and the incredible moments of inspiration I saw watching him, I can't place SG above him.

God, it's a nightmare question...

I can only speak with authority about players from my lifetime, and even then it's impossible to say just one.

King Kenny, Rush, Fowler, Aldridge, Barnes, Hansen, Molby (the most scouse non-scouser in the world!)...I could go on and on.

Also, and I know it's a touchy subject for some, I find it hard to believe that a goalkeeper in English football will ever be a hero to as many people as Grobbelaar was to kids when I was growing up.

None of todays players or players from the 90s make the list. They have not won enough silverware for the club or dominatred in world cups or european competitions. Fowler or Owen will struggle to get into top 50. Gerrard could make top 30.

Dalglish for me.

Gerrard is simply awesome and is on his way to legendary status, if not already there. Too early to become an all-time favourite because he is still 25 only and still (not his fault this one) has not won a championship medal.

Looking at him now, I just wondered that we could have won the 2 FA Cup finals we lost to Manure in 1977 and 1996 with him in the team playing like this season and the CL Finan and the Olympiakos final CL Group game last season. Sure we had great players in the past, bur none like him who can take the game by the scruff of the neck, do more than his fair share of turning the match and inspire his colleagues.

Imagine if he had Souness or Whelan doing the ball winning and covering the back 4, with Alonso in tandem and Dalglish linking up the midfield and the attack and Digger Barnes in his pomp - he would be unstoppable!

dalglish is the best player i have seen grace a football pitch, just all round brilliance, im luck i was at the age to see him play and appreciate him.

however that said Fowler used to take my breath away at times and barnes was just a magician
