When I say he wont do it on his own i am saying that to those that feel he can do that, he cant!!
Also the way Owen plays (IMO) is not best suited to our current style of play and will have problems adjusting!

Your gona get a flogging on here saying gibberish like this,

F.A Cup
UEFA Cup
Worthington Cup
Super Cup
Charity Shield

And yes, he played a huge role in making sure we got into 4th spot in order for us to even qualify for the Champions League last season.

So when you say that LFC are thinking with our hearts, not heads, take a look at yourself son.

Get stu ffed

If you consider the friggn Charity shield as something of note, you've not seen the team win any Premierships. I have, so winning something of note means the league or the Champions league/European Cup, neither of which were won with Michael Owen in the team.

Theres  been plenty of foreign imports who premier league defenders knew sweet FA about it and they still didnt score :censored:
By your logic we should sell our forwards every couple of years because the defenders would have worked them out by then.

Come back Michael

Judging by his last 2 season with us Einstein, he didnt have a trick anyone hadnt seen before. Or have you been so quick to forget how long he went without scoring and how many games we won we he couldnt score.

You want to go back to those days of relying on Owen to score every goal or we lose?

Why some people include the Charity shield as a "title" is beyond me sometimes. I remember the time when Houllier was facing the sack, he used to repeat frequently and remind all that he had won SIX cups during his tenure. 6? He even included the charity shield (and Supercup) for goodness' sake.

Hey Goon,

The bloke said that Owen never won anything during his time in Anfield, so what if its the mickey mouse cup or ol' big ears, a cup is a cup. Who are you to judge what a player can or can;t win, he won it with us, OUR club, end of story. I know its not a huge status, but christ, its a cup or shield for that matter.

The bloke said never won anything of note.

And you think the Charity shield is something of note.

By your measure, Houllier is our greatest ever manager!

You :censored:, so what if its not worth mentioning, why is the FA Cup so highly rated in England? You're a goon. Read the posts previously to your ranting, maybe then you can get a clue  :idea

garcia  why are you so negative regarding  michael owen    he has nothing to prove to you or anybody else   your talking about a fuc.king anfield legend

make that appointment at the docs garcia

This is the sort of stuff that gets right up me.

Anfield friggn legend? Dalglish and Rush are Anfield legends. They won doubles, European Cups and League titles with this club.

Owen had not taken us to a title or a Champions League like true Anfield legends have done. As far as I'm concerned, John Barnes is more an Anfield legend than Owen is.

the only thing that worries me is the sight of sami/finnan even gerrard.or anyone for that matter.............HOOFING it up to owen again! infact anyone with hooves can leave now.

that statement is borne out from having NO sleep tonight whatsoever and therefore is gibberish............i hope!
in all fairness i do NOT expect senor rafa to resort to GH tactics either, so probably there wont be any hoofing..... will there?

you see, i expect there to be times/opponents who will necessitate such tactics played against them. i just hope to god its not ALL over the top and off you go michael all over again.
:(

that is of course if he comes.

pass and move is what we want.

If you want to bring back Owen to win us the FA Cup well and good.

The point I'm making is that he's not the player to win us the top trophies like the league. Didnt do it when he was with us, and didnt do it at Madrid either.

And if he was that type of modern striker that can play up front on his own and score goals, every big club like Milan, Juventus, Barcelona would be after him.

As things stand, he's got an offer from Newcastle and Ferguson has come out and said he's not good enough for his scum team. So if he's not good enough for them, he's not good enough for us.

He can go to Newcastle and win all the FA cups and Charity shileds that he likes

Im not to keen on Owen as a person with the way he left the club and all.
As a player you cant disregard his abilities for scoring goals.

Benítez ready to clear decks at Anfield to bring home Owen

From Matt Dickinson, Chief Football Correspondent in Copenhagen

MICHAEL OWEN’S return to Liverpool was looking imminent last night after his former club made official contact with Real Madrid. The transfer, expected to be for about £12 million, is likely to be financed by the departure from Anfield of Djibril Cissé and Milan Baros.
Owen, whose wife, Louise, is pregnant with their second child, had feared that he might have to wait until the deadline on August 31 to be rescued from Spain, but his transfer gathered pace as Liverpool set about making room for the England forward, who was a half-time substitute as England crashed to their heaviest defeat in 25 years with a 4-1 defeat by Denmark in Copenhagen that Sven-Göran Eriksson, the head coach, described as “a disaster”.

Baros is expected to join Aston Villa for £6.5 million in the next few days, while Rafael Benítez, the Liverpool manager, is also ready to sell Cissé. Gérard Houllier, the Lyons manager, has registered an interest and has money to spend after the £26 million transfer of Michael Essien to Chelsea. Newcastle United are also looking for a forward, although they can give up the chase for Owen as he prepares to return to Anfield.

Eriksson will be happy to have Owen playing regularly for an English club and he is in need of reasons to be cheerful. Even the diplomatic Swede was forced to berate his team’s failings after they collapsed in the second half against a Denmark team struggling to qualify for the World Cup finals.

Im sorry, but it sounds like a load of garbage if Cisse is going. Kewell has had more time to prove himself than Cisse, I'm not sure about the credibility of this article.

The Mirror

OWEN'S ON LOAN ANFIELD RETURN
OWEN IN ANFIELD RETURN
MICHAEL OWEN could be back at Anfield by the weekend.

Liverpool have made progress in their attempt to thrash out an agreement with Real Madrid, and are now hopeful of tying up a deal.

The Spanish side want £10million straight cash for the striker they signed from Anfield for £8m just a year ago. Liverpool cannot pay that outright, because even if they manage to sell Milan Baros to Aston Villa for £6.5m this week, manager Rafa Benitez is determined to buy a centre-half with the money.

But they have proposed a deal with Real where they will take Owen on loan initially, and then meet the full asking price in a year's time.

Madrid have been reluctant to accept such terms, and have been holding out in the hope of a late bid from Manchester United, who - despite their protests to the contrary - have maintained contact with the Spanish giants.

But there has been no bid from Manchester, and Real have now lost patience. They know they have to thrash out an agreement within the next few days before the transfer deadline, and they have indicated they are ready to accept a compromise with Liverpool.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.
