Reds ready with Evra offer
by Graeme Bailey

Liverpool could be ready to offer Monaco the pick of their French talent to try and land Patrice Evra.
The French international is one of the most up and coming left backs in Europe and host of clubs are tracking him.
Spanish colossuses Real Madrid and Barcelona have been monitoring Evra for some time, while Internazionale and Juventus are also very keen.
However, English sides are also well aware of Evra's capabilities.
Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger took an interest in Evra as far back as 2002, and Manchester United and Liverpool were not too far behind in checking on him - the only real surprise so far is that Chelsea have not become involved in the battle.
It is in fact Liverpool who look to have made one of the first moves for Senegal-born Evra - who is expected to leave the Stade Louis II in the summer, and the Principality outfit have already targeted Boavista's Nelson as a possible replacement.
Liverpool are now understood to have made contact with Monaco and told them that they can have money plus some of their French contingent - with Djimi Traore, Bruno Cheyrou and Alou Diarra, currently on loan at Lens, all rumoured to be on offer.
Evra, who turns 24 later this week, is expected to decide his future and which club he would like to join over the summer.

Never seen him before, anyone got any ideas on this fella?

Evra looks a  good prospect, but I'd rather sign Maxwell from Ajax.

Good quality player, strong, quick and can attack aswell as defend.......Gets well stuck in and personally thats what i love from a full back.....put those wingers in place and show who is boss. I'd be happy for him to be a Liverpool player.

Good player from what i've heard/seen of him.  But again he's been playing in the French League and there haven't been many success stories from France in the Premiership of late.  There's rumours that Chelsea might want to offload Wayne Bridge, but i can't see that they will because Maureen likes two players in every position.

Riise is a success story.

according to sky sports, sounds like a cash + traore  :no + cheyrou  :nod + diarra  ???  deal.

"Zidane" can go. I think we'd need traore to cover the centrebacks (even if hyypia is up to it for another season) unless rafa is planning to bring in another cb, pls no pellegrino. diarra still cuts a mysterious figure to me, would love to see him in the premiership for a season.

agree, but so far it has been pretty quiet on that front. need someone to partner carra at the back. hyypia can't deal with pacey forwards (been proven many times, penultimately in the arsenal game).

but it is early days yet.  :;):

I'd love to have evra. He is a world class attacking full back that isnt afraid to go in for 50 - 50 s and he gets stuck in. We need a new world class left back and we could have warnock as like sub for him. I watched Evra play last season during monaco's champions league campaign and he was instrumental to them getting to the final. I say get him!

If we went for Patrice Evra and Rafael Van der Vaart and got them both, were does this leave John? Would be a shame if he has to drop to the bench as hes a heart on sleeve type of player.

Ok, lets say he plays central midfield, what do you do with Gerrard? Alonso would most definitely stay in the middle with him, but Gerrard would be moved to right midfield were he'd be less influential, on the other hand, he could be very effective down the flanks and not to mention he'd help defend a hell of a bit more than Garcia.

Depending on the players that comes in, I think Benitez is going to have a few selection headaches.

I just worked a team out and on paper it look's awesome, albeit with some players not guarentee'd to join.

                                      Reina

Finnan               Carragher            Woodgate        Evra

Gerrard               Alonso            Van der Vaart      Riise

                                  Luis Garcia

                                      Cissé / Morientes

hmmm nice team. I not sure but vdv could possibly play on the right (i'll have to do some research into that) which leaves a space for gerrard in the middle otherwise I agree with the team you picked.

I tried doing some research myself, all I came up with was "left sided player". If he could play right midfield that would be f*cking awesome.

Also, I'd like to see Garcia track closer to the strikers for extra support. I don't like leaving one man isolated up front.
