When you look at the ideal captain.

John Terry is clearly it.

We have someone similar (although not quite as good) in Carragher.

Gerrard is not a leader yet. He has the raw attributes, but he doesn't influence, he doesn't instruct and he's not consistent enough, he also gets on other players backs.

Agree Stu, SG frightens his team mates rather than motivate them

He is also inconsistent, unlike Carragher who you would entrust with your life any day of the week

Carra definiteoly gets my vote for captain

Agreed Stu - Carra just gets on with things - the players respect him.

Gerrard goes under the knife
Thursday April 28 2005

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard underwent dental surgery hours before his side's Champions League semi-final first leg draw with Chelsea last night, according to a report.

Rafael Benitez's side produced a good performance at Stamford Bridge to remain on level terms for next week's return leg at Anfield, with the tie poised at 0-0.

But the usually-talismanic Gerrard had a quiet evening by his usual standards.

And a report in the Liverpool Echo has revealed the England midfielder had surgery to remove a mouth abscess in London on Wednesday which had caused him increasing pain and resulted in a sleepless night on Tuesday.

A decision was made in the early hours of Wednesday to take Gerrard to a dental hospital in the capital first thing in the morning and after the operation, he rejoined his team-mates.

Loking at Stevie's performance on Wednesday night he played like he had piles !!!!! :D

The formation was pretty much the same as Rafa played against Arsenal at home and Stevie was immense that day given the free role but just goes to show that everyone can have an off day. Worryingly for me though is that Stevie has played Chelsea 4 times this season and hardly shone in any of the games !  ??? Lets hope he bucks the trend and has a stormer on Tuesday :p
