What's all this nonsense about players - Gerrard or whoever - needing rests?
These guys are super fit, fed all the right things and trained in all the right ways - work hard a few hours a day and an hour and a half at the weekend. Wasn't a feature of Benitez' early days at Melwood the fierce training sessions? I remember reading how Danny Murphy said how tough it was. I think I also read somewhere that we would benefit at the end of the season because the players were so fit. As other teams (Everton?) ran out of steam our guys would be still strong as oxen.
They were knocked out of the FA Cup so haven't had that to content with and there's only one group stage in the CL. Most of the league cup campaign was played by the kids so they really haven't had too tough a season.
Was it in 1979 - an era when the players lived on steak and beer - that we won all before us using just 14 players?
Tired me hole. Gerrard looks like he would run three marathons back to back.
They have a month and a half to rest when the season ends.
Rest? Bollix to that.

Riise has played most games but has been subbed alot of the time, it would be great to give Gerrard a rest in an ideal world he does look a bit tired in the latter stages of games but its just not possible. Nicking 4th is vital and although Biscan and Welsh have come in and done a job, that is alongside Stevie, if we played the two of them away to city and rested Gerrard we would struggle. We need to get the points in the bag and then hopefully we can bring him off towards the end and get Alonso on to gain some fitness.
