Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

important we beat city and on paper it shouldn;'t be too tough.  They are a midtable team who don't have Wright phillips (injured) or Anelka (sold) so we should be ok.

we can't afford to rest players, we need to take 4th and it would pointless to rest Gerrard because 4th, sadly, is our priority...our Champions League run is a bonus nothing else and we should remained focused on the league.
my team would be

          Dudek

Finnan     Carra      Hyypia       Warnock

Garcia        Gerrard     Biscan        Riise

           Morientes

Subs;
Alonso
Carson
Le Tallec
Pellegrino
Traore

If 4th is our priority, why are you only putting 10 players on the pitch. :)

We are a good team at home and should win all our remaining anfield games. Key to finishing fourth is getting points away from home. Man City away is one of our easiest away games remaining. I am not saying it is going to be easy, but compared to our other remaining away we MUST win one or three points this saturday. Mid table teams are easier to play than relegation strugglers(Portsmouth+Palace) and title contenders(Arsenal).

i reckon Nunez and perhaps Smicer should also get on the bench. Provided Hamann recovers on time, I dont think we can afford both Biscan and Hamann on the bench. Thats quite a waste of substitutes. Should we field a 442 or 451?

and i presume Hamann could not recover on time? If he does, Biscan might not even get a place on the bench?

I wouldn't change a thing after last nights performance. Same players (obviously Morientes in for Baros) and same formation although Rafa has shown us time and time again he likes to change it around.

It will be interesting to see if Sami and ALT keep their places. I think Pellegrino has done well at CB recently even if he did struggle with Boltons' physical bombardment (he has probably never come up against anything like that before) at the weekend we still came out with another clean sheet. Sami had a quality game against Juv and Le Tellec showed the boss he has other options. I doubt very much we will see Alonso start this match and would prefer to him play for 30 mins (i'm not one for rushing players back too quickly) or so.

My prediction - 0-0

My team would be

                            Dudek

Finnan    Carragher   Hyppia   Warnock

Nunez      Alonso/Biscan  Gerrard   Rise

                    Garcia
                          Morientes

Subs
Carson
Hyppia
Alonso/Biscan
La Tallec
Smicer

If Alsono is fully recovered i'd start him. If he is not fully match fit i'd put him on second half to help him for the Juve game

Would play this formation against mancity.

1)Carson for Dudek. - Made an error against juventus...but looks much composed than dudek.

2)Not sure to put garcia at right wing and play morientas & ALT as strikers or play garcia behind morientas (with nunez at right wing). Looking at the form garcia is in, i think it will be better to let him continue as support striker.

                        Carson
       Finnan   Carra  Pelle  Traore
       Nunez   Gerrard  Biscan Riise
                       Garcia
                     Morientas

think Dudek will return for man city and would like to see Warnock back in the team....and also Alonso for the last 20 mins.

                     Dudek
      Finnan   Carra  Pelle  Warnock
      Nunez   Gerrard  Biscan/Alonso-(as sub) Riise
                      Garcia
                    Morientas
