He's capable enough, a good player on his day. Not really sure what he is supposed to be though. Is he a Beardslyesque, creative striker who unlocks defenses with trickery and vision, or is he an out and out goalscorer who be in the top five or six in the scoring charts? Clearly he is no Beardsley (who is to be fair) though he does occasionally do something really inventive and skillful, and also he doesn't score enough goals for a front line striker in my view. We persisted too long with Heskey as a first choice striker who doesn't score, and while Keanne is positively prolific compared to Emile, he wouldn't get us enough goals to make the outlay worthwhile in my view. He seems to be one of those bitty players that may disappear if we had one of those Southampton/Birmingham performances.
It's probably impossible but I'd take Smith from Man U for a similar fee any day of the week.
