IF you win the CL but don't finish in the top 4 it is NOT automatic that you qualify .
The rules are, if all positions are filled, and the Winners are not pre qualified  the relevant League CAN apply, IF THEY WISH TO, for the Winners to go in instead of the 4th placed team.
Its on the rules page, even if we win it and dont get 4th we are not guarenteed to go into it next season.
They only allow 4 english out of our league into it, so if we won it, the place you would asume would go to us, but its not that straight forward.

seriously...i didn't know such a rule exists........... 1st time a chick telling me something i didn't know abt footie  :p

well.....we have only ourselves to blame for this situation... we just lost too many points.. honestly i thought eversh1t will lose to villa..... Not only did they win, but they dominated villa.

Not the end of the world if we don't get 4th.......... cos i know we will be premier league champs next season.

at worst i can see us getting 22points out of our last games and the best i can see Everton getting is 18 more points so its going to be tight and looks like we must beat Arsenal and man city with no slip ups then we can do it and just hope that Everton dont draw or win against Arsenal or man u

i would say that Everton have more chance of taking 3rd that we do of getting 4th but we live in hope

No thats different.  The point Im making is that if we win the Champions League but cant even make the top 4 of our domestic league that will put the cl in bad light.  Porto may not be glamourous but they won consecutive portugese titles, the portugese cup and the uefa cup when the won the champions league.
Im not saying its ****** if we win or ne ****** like that im saying that if we cant get in the qualification spots but still win it then... well it just would take some of the shine off it for me.

If we win the Champions League and we finish 5th ...

I would be satisfied with a place in the semi-final. 5th place is unacceptable for us in the League.

I think we are going to have to win all our games to finish 4th,can anybody see that with our up and down form?I dont think so,its just a shame moro is cup tied and alonso is injured as i think with those two players we could have had a good crack at winning the champions league. No im not being defeatist just realistic.

i agree, realisically we need everton to start dropping points because i just cant see us going on a man u type run of 9 wins and 2 draws. to go on such a run you`ve got to be consistent, its no good looking world beaters against charlton and west brom if you are going to throw in birmingham and southampton type performances inbetween.
as i have said its not even easter yet and a lot can happen in the last few games but we`ve really got to cut out the poor away performances where we dont show up.
the newcastle away game next weekend is massive.

Fact is. Everton are looking really strong at the moment. They play as a TEAM and they play with BELIEF. The way they beat Villa was impressive.

8 points as a lot. It is going to be hard. Even if Everton are going to play Man U and Arsenal in March I can easily see them upsetting those teams. For me this means that we have to pull off an incredible run from now on until the last game. 11 games and I don't think we can afford more than one or two defeats if we are going to finish fourth.

8-2-1 = 26 points
8-1-2 = 25 points           Enough to secure CL
7-3-1 = 24 points
-----------------
7-2-2 = 23 points
7-1-3 = 22 points           May be enough
7-0-4 = 21 points
-----------------
6-2-3 = 20 points
6-1-4 = 19 points           Probably not enough
5-3-3 = 18 points
-----------------
Worse = definately not enough

That is we need 7 or more wins out of our remaining games:

Have to win at least 12 points here
LIVERPOOL - Blackburn
LIVERPOOL - Everton
LIVERPOOL - Bolton
Crystal Palace - LIVERPOOL
LIVERPOOL - Aston Villa

difficult games, have to get more than 6 points
Manchester City - LIVERPOOL
LIVERPOOL - Tottenham
Portsmouth - LIVERPOOL
LIVERPOOL - Middlesbrough

Very difficult games, 1-3 points needed
Newcastle - LIVERPOOL
Arsenal - LIVERPOOL
