Everton pushing for 4th - Is this the end?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby banana » Sat Feb 26, 2005 6:28 pm

Everton earned themselves another 3 points today in a very difficult away game. We are approaching the finish line and they are still 8 points ahead of us. Bearing in mind that we have 1 game in hand we could reduce that gap to 5 points. The question is can we catch them?

Next round:
Newcastle - Liverpool
Everton - Blackburn

My prediction is a draw for us and a win for them.

Then:
Liverpool - Everton

We have to win this one.

Then:
WBA - Everton
Everton - Palace

I can easily see Everton getting 6 point from those fixtures.

So with 5 games remaining we will still be about 4-6 points behind them. FFS can the unimaginable really happen?

Where were you last season? Do you remember when Newcastle were in fourth place and it seemed very unlikely to finish fourth as we were clearly behind? What happened at the end?

Don't calculate what may and may not happen, too many if's and thens. We need to worry about ourselves and not them.

impossible to predict our games of late, and neverton jus seem to pull out all the stops at the mo. take a look at some of the EPL results recently and tell me you'd put your mortgage on a run of predicted results!! we jus gotta have faith, hope for the best and get behind the team.

Beside the Hillsborough Flame, I heard a Koppite mournin, "Why so many taken on that day?" Justice has never been done. But their memory we'll carry on. There'll be Glory Round The Fields Of Anfield Road

IF just If we win the Champions League and we finish 5th we are not automatically in the Champs League for next season.
It will be up to the F.A. to decide, as in our league they give 4 places out if we finish 5th we wont automatically be in it IF we win it.
But I think the F.A. would choose us over everton :;):
Imagine if that happened would be unbelieveable, if they got 4th we won it and they dont qualify.

You can hardly predict the outcome of games in the Premier League or any other games period. It's not over yet.

I think we are clutching straws here?...i think it will be very hard to catch the b..sh..e now I"m not looking forward as much to the anfield derby as much as i thought i might have been?.Even if we beat them it might only be scant consolation, they may be too far ahead by then we have a tough away game at Newcastle next wk while they have a home game to Blackburn, i know who i would rather play  ???

So Everton win today and suddenly they will automatically finish fourth. Yea they won today but they could lose the next three games. Unlikely? Nothing is unlikely in the Premiership.

Just because they play Blackburn at home doesn't mean that they will get the three points.

Our own fans are writting us off? Come on we're better than this, where's the hope and the faith?

Incorrect.

If we won the champions league and got relegated we'd be in the champions league next season.

The winner of the compition has the most right to be there!!

Also, it has nothing to do with Fifa lydnsey. Its Uefa who run the champions league.

`Sorry I meant UEFA :D .
IF you win the CL but don't finish in the top 4 it is NOT automatic that you qualify .
The rules are, if all positions are filled, and the Winners are not pre qualified  the relevant League CAN apply, IF THEY WISH TO, for the Winners to go in instead of the 4th placed team.
Its on the rules page, even if we win it and dont get 4th we are not guarenteed to go into it next season.
They only allow 4 english out of our league into it, so if we won it, the place you would asume would go to us, but its not that straight forward.

If we string a good run together the blue ****** will implode on themselves.Villa are in a bad way just lately so dont read into the scoreline to much.

the thing is that it might end up that we need to catch Arsenal for 4th, the way they are droping points I can see Everton overtaking them.

3 Arsenal 28 32 58
4 Everton 28 5 51
5 Liverpool 27 12 43
