Johnny Mac thats one of the best posts i've read in a long time.

Gerrard has world class ability but isn't a world class player as yet. He charges around the pitch against the lesser sides but often gets picked off by the more intelligent players.

He needs to book his ideas up, shut up and learn. Someone needs to sit him down and tell him he isn't all that and needs to listen to reach the next level.

Could that possibly be because whilst Gerrard is performimg below expectations Carragher in his new role as CB is performing far beyond what was expected from a decidely average full back . ?

Personally I'm sick and Fu*king tired of the anti Gerrard campaign that has grown in this forum . He may not be perfect but be fking honest with yourselves ,would you be happy seeing him in a Chelsea,Arsenal ,Man U or Madrid shirt playing against us ?

Get a grip people , if he goes he goes , but in the meantime lets show the guy we'd love it if he stayed .

Woof what LFC fan would be happy seeing him play for another club? I am not happy with the way he's performing at the present that doesn't mean that I hate Gerrard or want him out but the question that needs to be asked is he holding us back and are we holding him back from glory? We could be a better team without him and he could be a better player without us.

We all thought that Everton would be at the bottom of the table after selling Rooney yet they are playing as a team better than they did with Rooney.

That makes me wonder how we would play without Gerrard pernametly.

Another annoying news but worth knowing about

Real Madrid about to move for Liverpool star.
By European Football - February 19 2005

The Spanish press are stating that the Real Madrid board are about to sanction a thirty million pound move for Anfield star Steven Gerard. It was strongly suggested that during the transfer of Fernando Morientes to Liverpool that a first option on Gerard had been secured by the Spanish club.

This was hotly denied by Liverpool, but few in the Spanish press believed it then and even fewer now, they all thought that some behind the scenes deal was done, otherwise Morientes, would have went to France where more money was on offer.

Liverpool for their part state that Gerard will be going no-where….unless (and that’s a big word there) he wants to.

The Spanish press are convinced that he does and will join ex-team mate Owen in the Real Madrid line up before the end of the summer.

*****

Newspaper reports today claim that the Real Madrid board have approved a request by Vanderlei Luxemburgo to make a formal £30million bid for the services of Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard in the summer.

President Florentino Perez is a keen admirer of Gerrard but is aware of Chelsea's interest in the player. Perez demanded the first option on Gerrard during the transfer negotiations of Fernando Morientes last month but that was rejected by the Liverpool board.

The Real board are said to have approved the bid during a routine board meeting earlier this week. Liverpool insist that they will turn down all bids for the player in the summer even if they top £50million.

Agreed Rock.

30 million is 30 million wherever it comes from and I'd much rather not face Stevie next year if/when he does go.

I rather see him go to Barcalona, I'm tired of all our good English players going to Real Madrid.

stevie g says we wont win... is this another voice bite of a guy who wants to leave? or just some honesty?
(from bbcsport.co.uk)
Steven Gerrard has admitted that Liverpool have little chance of winning the Champions League this season.
The 24-year-old Reds skipper spoke out ahead of Tuesday's first leg at home to Bayer Leverkusen in the last 16, which he will miss through suspension.

"Let's be realistic, there are some fantastic teams left in the Champions League," he told BBC Radio Five Live.

"We are just going to try to stay in as long as possible but we realise that maybe it is not our year this year."

Gerrard has made no secret of his desire to be involved in Europe's premier club competition.

We are confident we can upset Chelsea in the Carling Cup final
Last season he described qualification for the Champions League as the "be all and end all" - and rumours persist that he will leave Anfield if the Reds fail to secure a place in the competition.
He has consistently been linked with a move away from Liverpool, with Chelsea the favourites to snap up the England midfielder.

But Gerrard, who fired Liverpool into the last 16 of this season's competition with a brilliant goal in December's win over Olympiakos, insisted he was still fully focused on helping Liverpool to glory this season.

The Reds are currently fifth in the Premiership table, five points off the crucial fourth spot, which brings Champions League qualification - and they face Chelsea in Sunday's Carling Cup final.

"It's big couple of months for Liverpool," he added.

"We're fighting for the fourth spot for the Champions League for next season but we are still involved in two cup competitions, which are very important.

"We are confident we can upset Chelsea in the Carling Cup final and get to the last eight of the Champions League because, financially, it is big for the club and, personally for myself, it is very good."

Although p#ssed off at his comments, I do want him to stay at anfield and will always support him whilst he is here. On the pitch he is a good captain (despite not having a good game in 2005) but off the field i think he is a bit naive with his honesty with the press. If only he was as honest with the fans and didnt keep them guessing were he will be next year. Anyhow I believe we can do it and will be flying over in a couple of hours.

Stevie is testing my loyalty towards all LFC players to the limit at the minute.

Is that what the players need to hear quoted throughout the press today - that their captain doesn't feel they can win the competition. I quote 'Lets be realistic, there are some fantastic teams out there........' ???? What sort of mindset is that? That is someone who's decided he's playing for a second-rate team, who in his own mind can't see Liverpool winning the CL. Someone needs to work on Stevie's head at the minute because his belief in the club has gone. Football is such an unpredictable game. Shock results happen. But they wont if the players have already made up their mind.

Tonight he looked almost surprised and sheepish when we scored our third goal. I want to see our captain screaming his f**king lungs off, showing complete belief in our team, hanging on every minute of the match.

Maybe its because he's leaving. If thats the case it such an unhealthy situation.

Stevie get your head sorted out, stop thinking and do what you do best.

I hate Roy Keane but I've never hear him say that Man Utd can't win a trophy. I could understand if Stevie was talking about the Premiership which is far out of our hands however this is something we shouldn't be hearing from our captain.

Even if he is leaving he is still a Liverpool player, the Liverpool captain and he should at least try to show that he cares about the club he's playing for at the moment.

Gerrard is far from a finished article, he has far more to learn and he's getting caught up in his own hype. He has had great performances and scored great goals but he has also had poor performances and has said things he shouldn't.

Perhaps we are holding him back from being a better player and with that said he may be holding us from being a better TEAM. I can not wait till this saga is all over, it's tiredsome.
