Liverpool Football Club - Games

Bit worried about this one tbh, we are chucking 2 goal leads away like confetti at a wedding. I'm just hoping something clicks but we haven't looked convincing for a while now, we even looked iffy in pre-season.

I remember when this used to be an easy 3 pointer, we typically smashed these lot soo many times at anfield.

Ar$ camp thinks this is finally their year. They've definitely got an edge on squad depth that's for sure.

They way we've been past few games I don't know how to predict this one.

Saka and odegaard are out for them I think, so few less problems to deal with.

I'd like to see Sboz,Mc and Grav in middle but feels like Slot will play Sboz FB.

Either a freescoring game or a controlled draw, which has been a typical result at Anfield in recent years.

There will be goals. Hopefully we score more.

The fact arsenal have so many injuries will play into our favour. But our defence needs to step it up a gear.

I’m going for a draw

Ive watched both Arsenal games this season.. they looked fragile vs United, they were really poor in that game and if United were more clinical they would have won that game. And against Leeds for 45 mins Arsenal were once again shocking. Its only when Arsenal scored the 2nd that Leeds left the floodgates open for Arsenal to look "decent". That same Leeds lost to Sheff Weds under 18s in the Caraboa cup about 4 days after aswell.

We looked ok vs Bournemouth.. but at 2-0 we tried controlling the game and we looked really shakey in possession, maybe it's too many of the new lads trying to fit into a new system. Then we went and did the same thing vs Newcastle even when they had 10 men.

Its strange because teams play a low block against us and only open up when we go ahead.. but for some reason this season when we've gone in lead we've not gone for their throats, we've actually encouraged teams to get back into the game.. and it's nearly cost us 2 wins.

Its gonna be a tough game today either way, the crowds gonna be up, the players are gonna be motivated.. I dont know, I think it'll be a 2-1 win either way.

Yeah we haven't had a great start, performance wise at least, but Arsenal honestly haven't been much better.

This is gonna be the first game in the season when we'll have both Gravenberch and MacAllister starting, so our midfield should be better this time. Still, if we have a right back ready to start, Szobozlai should play instead of Wirtz for a physically stronger midfield, we'll need that against these.

Doesn't matter if it's super early in the season, a game against a rival for the title is always important. We only play them twice a season so we need to make it count.

Never easy this lot. Mind you I remember us winning 4-0 after 20 minutes against this lot not that long ago. A repeat of that would do me. Definitely give Rio more time. Konate needs to wake up. Gakpo needs a good one as a thank you for his new contract !!

Liverpool: Alisson, Szoboszlai, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Wirtz, Salah, Ekitike, Gakpo.

Subs: Mamardashvili, Gomez, Endo, Bradley, Chiesa, Jones, Elliott, Robertson, Ngumoha.

Dom still at RB which is a bit of a surprise with Bradley training all week.

Might be tactical as Martinelli might run riot against anyone  a little rusty...

A hard fought 2-1 to the mighty Reds

That performance against Bournemouth isn't looking quite as bad either given yesterday they went to White Hart Lane and beat Spurs on their own patch a week after Spurs beat City at the Etihad.
Really hope we get a positive result today, nothing worse than having to stew through a crappy international break after getting beat.

Very scrappy so far.  No real urgency from us either.

We’ve been really poor. Arsenal looking most likely to score.

Is our midfield still on the team bus?

I am worried about Kerkez so far. He has been underwhelming, too rash and useless with high balls as he won't win a single header this  season.

He’s also a lot slower than I thought.

Arsenal slightly more threatening but we haven't been poor IMO, this is a title contender we're facing so we shouldn't expect to dominate them.

We've been solid defensively, I was especially pleased how both Szobozlai and Kerkez have performed.

We did look like we lack a bit of edge going forward and our passing overall hasn't been great so hopefully we can improve on that in the second half.
