Liverpool V Spurs - Sun Aug 31st - 1.30pm Kick Off

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby C-R » Tue Aug 26, 2014 9:37 am

Liverpool full-backs Glen Johnson and Alberto Moreno are both major doubts for Sunday’s Premier League trip to Tottenham.

Johnson is facing a spell on the sidelines after suffering a thigh injury in the closing stage of Monday night’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester City.

The England international went off with five minutes to go, leaving the Reds to play out time with 10 men having already used all three substitutes.

Debutant Moreno stayed on until the end - despite undergoing treatment after going over on his right ankle.

The £12million left the Etihad Stadium limping heavily and with his ankle heavily strapped.

Liverpool’s medical staff will also assess Martin Skrtel, who picked up a knock late on.

Very brave performance by Moreno when he was clearly in a lot of pain. Hope the lad isn't out for too long. He didn't deserve his bit of bad luck.

As for Glen we should allow him a couple of seasons to fully recover...........

Presumably Enrique will be available and if they have to play the dinner lady at RB then we will be ok !!

Adam Lallana back in contention for this one, maybe on the bench, wonder if a central 3 of Gerrard, Hendo and Lallana would work

I'd like to see us start with this team on Sunday, it's no reflection on the likes of Danny and Phil etc but given the size of our squad other players deserve the chance to show what they can do.

As I said mate it's no reflection on how the likes of Danny performed yesterday, it's just that we have a big squad and everyone deserves the chance to show what they can do.

Good Lineup ,i will keep Danny in i think if we play this formation (lone striker) sturridge is just a better player then Mario. I would also introduce Sakho back to the lineup. Lovern could play the enforcer role just as good as Skertel and Sakho offers another dimension in moving the ball forward.
Got to Say Hendo is still an engima for me...Yes the hardest worker in the team but whenever he gets the ball so many of his passes are either useless or lost his confidence is all over the place...

Good line up on paper Yakka but don't think I'd want to see us start with six new signings all thrown in together for this game.

Would prefer to start with something like this

I'm here mate, I was going to do the thread this morning but I got beat to it! Lets hope Cardiff Red is a lucky lad!

Can't see us slipping up really, I think we'll see us play a fast paced game and score a few goals ...

I agree with woof, no way we should be starting with so many new players, this ain't a cup game.

Also, I'd probably use both Markovic and Balotelli as impact subs. This is what I'd go with (too similar to the City game I guess but Spurs ain't City):

I normally agree with the unchanged approach. However we cannot afford to slip up against Spurs, Balotelli will not get a better platform to reintroduce himself to the league with a category A home game.

Rodgers will start him I am sure.
