Unless I misheard them journalists on Sunday Supplement this morning made a passing comment that they expect Suarez to sign at new contract with us this week !

Are they just regurgitating last weeks rumour ?

I read that he'd spoken to the president if the Uruquayan FA and had assured him he feels comfortable at Liverpool and is staying.

Big wage increase and massive release price is my guess. If he hadn't behaved like a bit of a clown during the summer then nobody would object to wages being increased. It may not fit with some fans but that's modern day football. Just hope the lawyers avoid too much ambiguity if only to avoid the likes of Arsenal fkg about !!

Can't wait for him to come back. He's a fkg nutter but he's our fkg nutter  :grinning:

We need a nutter. Always have. Bruce Grobbelaar is a childhood hero.

maybe those rumours are just rehashed muck from some bored journo.
why would suarez want to sign a new contract with us ?
if we dont qualify for CL the surely he is going to want out again next season?
he wanted out this year already and because he has 3 years left is the only reason we could force him to stay, why would he want to sign a extension that could ultimately see us do it again next year ?.
i totally understand why the club would want to tie him down but not as to why he would want to sign it.

he is a great player and one we really need but this situation is sorted and he remains here as a lfc player so we have him for this season and if we qualify for CL then he might want to stay so another contract would be the way to go then, but at the moment another contract is rewarding him for what exactly ?.
it will just encourage others who want a payrise to do the same, its a bad precedent to be setting imo.

Agree that he shouldn't get a new contract and certainly not one that would give him any type if pay rise. He signed an improved contract last summer - he can stick with that

Did he not already get a contract extension a year ago or something, and supposedly "pledged his future" to the club!?
I think we all know ( presuming he is now staying this season) that no top 4 this season, and he will def be gone next summer. + we wont be able to attract any big names to the club. Its important we do well this season, or we really will be up sh*t creek!! :)

The club have lost bigger and better players than Suarez and moved on - we will do again when he leaves

It is always down to cash with 99.9% of players these days.

I would say do it. Write a new contract with a 70 million release, tell him he can go next summer. Convince him to play his heart out and keep his head down and hopefully with a good wc he can be sold for 70 million. If he has a good year he will be chased which is what he wants. If we know it is happening we can plan accordingly.

I think this is possibly some desperate journo regurgitating an old rumour. Possibly pay him more with a massive clawback clause if he gets banned for acts of downright fkg stupidity.
